I hear Nintendo's making a "Mario mix" of DDR... that's going to be insane. Considering that Mario already has one of the widest and most versatile careers of any videogame character....

*refuses to allow the DDR thread to die* I love DDR. It's the only game I play these days... Mostly because I don't have the time or the patience or the gaming systems for all the RPGs that everyone seems so fond of.

I saw some screenshots for the Mario mix. It was pretty, but didn't look too difficult. Maybe because it wasn't on a hard difficulty to start with. Of course, everyone went and commented on the pictures, saying that they looked lame and too easy and that Nintendo was kiddifying everything, but then these are rather hardcore DDR fans, I think. ^^;

Mm, anyway, I play on my computer with a sim called Dance with Intensity (the other popular DDR sim out there is called Stepmania). I started playing last summer, when I bought myself a dance pad, and now I am tackling 8- and 9-foot songs, after about a year of playing. Playing at the arcade is a completely different matter though - I'm not used to playing with my shoes on, and it totally changes the game dynamics...

I love Healing Vision: Angelic Mix, even though I can only beat it on Standard. Some of my other favorite songs are A, Era, Tsugaru, and other songs that have no lyrics. Right now, my favorite song to 'dance' (because DDR is very fake dancing) is probably Frozen Ray on Heavy - my friend and I have gotten the spins down, so we look pretty funny when we play together.

(Rindi! We meet again!)<_<

I'm a amateur heavy dancer. And i have alot of favorite songs. Kakumei (the coolest song in the world) Tsugaru (the funnest song to play in the world) Afronova (the freakest song to play in the world) Breakdown! (the funnest and the most tiring song in the world) and some others.

I've still yet to pass Max Unlimited and The Legend of Max on Heavy. I know the sequence, but I'm not fast enough! >__________________

Myo ho ho... We can hijack this thread too. ^_^ Dude, you call yourself amateur and horrible? Can you pass all those songs that you mentioned on Heavy? You sound really good.

Out of the ones you mentioned, I can manage Tsugaru, but that's about it. I've passed Breakdown! a couple times, but only on my home system. You're right. That song is really really tiring. Plus there's some weird twisty stuff going on that I haven't figured out yet.

Oh. I have a funny Afronova story. My sisters were really excited to play this song because they have a morbid fascination with afros (don't ask, I have no idea why) and they were really disappointed when the background picture featured a bald guy. They didn't even realize that the 'afro' part of the song name was referring to Africa, and not afros. And they are both in high school. XD

Yes, everyone says I'm good... But I still can't pass Max Unlimited! Damn my slow legs!! I still think I'm a horrible DDR dancer!!

Afronova. My hair is long enough to make an afro, but I'd look ridiculous. I really love the final part of the song!

Dum-dum--dum-dum-dum--dum-dum! I always get all of it!...unless I fool around and say "CRAP!!!!" really loud. Then I follow up with a manly girly scream.

Healing Vision: Angelic Mix is one of the cruelest songs ive played. I can pass it, but i can almost never catch the slight pause in the middle of the song! Then I follow up with a manly girly scream.

Then I come across the almost never-ending stream yelling, "WHEN IS THIS GOING TO END!!??" Then I follow up with a manly girly scream.

Yes, I love to do the manly girly scream. It's funny.

Yes, I was starting to detect a pattern to the screaming there...

Pssht. You think you're horrible? But you can pass HVAM. Trust me, you're good. ^^ Mmm... I've never tried Afronova on Heavy. I always liked playing Afronova Primeval on Standard, and I never took it any further than that. I suspect that the Afronovas are too fast for me on Heavy though. *can't do fast songs at all*

The songs that I've been working on most recently are Sakura and Drop Out. But they are both too fast, so I'm not even close to passing them yet. Before that, I was working on Gamelan de Couple, because that song amuses me, and because it was really hard to get the timing down. I can pass that one now.... sometimes. Sadly, I haven't played in several weeks, since I had finals and was on vacation, and now, since I left my pad back in the States, I can't practice for free. >_<

I guess this will force me to get used to arcade machines. Provided I can find one, anyway.

Drop out is also an awesome song to do on heavy (if you know how to do it) Others think im crazy because of the myraid of doubles that appear at the second part of the song. Then the stream at the end of the song. I almost got it all one time then I messed up. Then I follow up with a manly girly scream.

Fast songs aren't really hard if you think about. What really matters is that if you know the beat and the sequence, you should be fine. (Sadly, it works for Max Unlimited...Damn that song!!!)

I tried Sakura ONCE. I failed it because I was clueless on the sequence. Then I never played it again. Then I follow up with a manly girly scream.

Lesson kids: NEVER play DDR after eating spicy curry!! WTF? And most of all NEVER follow up with a manly girly scream!! People would think you're crazy.

Well, yeah, that was the thing. I couldn't pass Gamelan de Couple for the longest time because I wasn't listening hard enough to the song. But once you start following the music, it's easy. Same thing for Vanity Angel (I heart that song!).

Sakura is fun! You should give it another try. Preferably without the screaming. *starts wondering what a girly manly scream would sound like* Oh no, I'm not even going to go there... >_<

I know a great song that i can never "AA" on, Xenon! That's such a groovy song! Also Burning Heat! The video game song! (because of the old Nintendo sound in the middle of the song.) Awesome song, hard to master.

Yeah, those manly girly screams are really annoying. I do that when my brain goes somewhere else. . . . .

*blinks* Let us keep in mind that this is a thread for DDR, and not one for complaining about our *ahem* inferiority complexes. <_<

Xenon is a cool song, but it's really hard! There are lots of songs that are cool but really hard. . . . . I like Burning Heat too. Although I think the most entertaining Heavy-level song to play is Kick the Can. I beat it the first time I tried it, but that song's steps still amuse me. Bleh, I don't think there are many songs that I can AA. I play songs so that I can pass them, not so that I can play them perfectly. Too impatient for that.

Kick the Can...

That's an American song put on DDR...

I annoy people doing the actual Kick the Can dance (im not that flexible...)

I like the Japanese mixes better. (Kakumei, w00t!!) Although the best American mix was Ghosts. That's an awesome song to do on heavy! It goes with the beat, the music beat, not the DDR beat.

So what do you want me to say? "I'm the best damn DDR dancer there is!"? (*scoff) I had alot of guts saying that. . . . . Well, I'm not.

Of course not. But I don't think saying "I am teh suxxor' is warrented either. ^_^

Uwah, I love Ghosts. I scared my family when I played that one... Mostly because I told them that it was the song I used for warming up, and that it was easy for me. And then after that, I'll bet I launched into Night in Motion. That's another ridiculously fun one. Kakumei is awesome, although I can't survive for 10 seconds on that one in Heavy mode. Well, just about anything by DJ Taka is good. BTW, what do you mean by 'DDR beat' as opposed to 'music beat'?

Susue-chan, what version of DDR do you play? I've never heard of Master XX.

Well excuuuuuse me! -_-

The DDR beat is:
bum - bum - bum - bum - bum or
bum - bum - bababum

The music beat is:
bum - bu - babum - bum - bu - babum (Ghosts) or
bum - bumbum - bum - bumbum (Xenon) or
bababababum - bababababum (Ghosts) or
bum - babum - babum - babum (Tsugaru/Burning Heat) or
babum - babum (Kakumei)

Or something like that. Can't find a better way to describe it. You need to know this if you're going to be a heavy dancer, or you'll be left in the dust.

Another good American mix is "Moonlight Shadow" i have it on my computer! The singer sounds so cool that she mesmerized me...

What's Master XX, Susue? Never heard of it. Are you taking about Maxx Unlimited? (GAH!! MEMORIES COMING BACK TO ME!!! *manly girly scream*) Surprised

I think I get what you mean... I just wasn't sure of the terms you were using. It's like following the straight quarter-note beat that the arrows flash at, as opposed to following the actual beat that the music plays. Or something. I can't describe it well. But yes, it's an important thing to learn.

Moonlight Shadow was one of the very first DDR songs that I heard and liked (before that, one of my friends kept sending me all the sketchy DDR songs, and they horrified me and I thought it must be an awful game). I found it while randomly downloading anime music videos - it was set to Inuyasha, and they actually went quite well together. Heh, I was listening to DDR music long before I started playing the game. I was obsessed with Era at one point... Listened to it for hours on end.

Did I already said that I like Kakumei? I did!!

Got the music, love the beat, hell I love everything about that song! I can't find a better way to describe it!

Somebody shoot me!

"He was shot six times from a man on a run..." Man, I love that voice!
