Yeah, and Final Fantasy too. The pioneer of the RPG genre. You can't argue with that. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

That's the problem. Like I said, you can really only view a game's influence in retrospect.
Grand Theft Auto, specifically GTA3, is fairly influential not only because it was commercially successful but more because of its design concepts (free-roaming, "open-ended" gameplay), those were pretty unique at the time, not just from the design standpoint, but from the fact that almost no other games used such a system. "Free-roaming" gameplay is now a major selling point that companies strive for. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Please explain in what way Kingdom Hearts was influential.
A great game? Yeah, it was.
Influential? No, not in the slightest. If you can disprove me, I'll be very surprised. |

Well, well, well. Look who decided to make face after so long.
And once again, Strata made a good point. I guess games can only be looked upon in retrospect, and we can't judge whether a game will have an effect on the games industry or not on it's release date. But from a certain standpoint, not being able to look at games in terms of influence kind of buggers the point of this thread a bit, don't you think? _________________ "You know what? Well someone's got to be sure that this kind of idiocy doesn't go un-noticed and un-punished. |

Just because they didn't respond, doesn't mean you automatically won the argument. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Tsk tsk, thought someone like yourself would've known better than to double post.
And winning any argument on a forum really isn't much to brag about anyways. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

i was doing reaserch i got alot of things to say Elbreth
In my perspective I see Kingdom Hearts as one of the most influential games that Square has ever made. It has influenced some of Squares new games new games like Final Fantasy XI and Crystal Chronicles, and will influence more games in the games to come. This article will go over the ways that Kingdom Hearts has influenced the gaming industry while dazzling its customers.
Kingdom Hearts has many features that have been passed down, or used in other games, which result was good or bad. For example, the gummy ship was used to travel to other worlds, much to my discontent, and it seems like a few games have used this principle such as Dark Cloud 2 with its train station feature, which was used to travel to different areas. Then FFX-2 came along using an airship to travel to each area from the very start, be it KH or FF that influenced this concept. Square does seem to like looking back on its previous accomplishments and using the same ideas again, and while sometimes a good idea can change into a bad idea over time, for example using an airship in every single Final Fantasy since the beginning of the series. Though the gummy ship didn't do a whole lot for KH it may have been a starting pace for Square games in the future.
The battle system in KH was also very influential to games in the future, though KH might have been influenced by the Battle system from a previous game (Zelda:OOT). It seems Square has used the battle system ideas in KH in there present accomplishments. Final Fantasy XI uses a battle system similar to Kingdom Hearts, being able to control the way you move and fight in battle and also not having to be sucked into a battle screen, another game would include Final Fantasy: CC it uses a system almost identical to KH, which is a clear indication that Square learns from its accomplishments, like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, and its mistakes, like the gummy ship and Unlimited SaGa. The battle system is just another sign that Kingdom Hearts will influence many games to come.
The last thing I have to mention is the sound that this game provided us with, WOW! As I have said in previous articles, but how will this set the bar for future games? You may ask yourself, and I will tell you. The voice acting was phenomenal in this game, though most of the game was text, and Square will most defiantly look back on their accomplishments and think of the idea of great voice acting in another one of their amazing games. Either then the voice acting there wasn't that much that isn't really new to us that could be used in future.
When the name Kingdom Hearts is spoken it best be spoken with respect, because it will be remembered through history as one of the most influential games that Square has ever made, or ever will make.

That "article", bar none, was the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.
You claim it to be an influential game yet in every section you point towards where the game derrived it's ideas. Oxymoron, no? |
