How did all of this branch off of shinto_grrl asking for dating advice? Anyways, shinto', considering your age (I live about two blocks from her), I'd say don't try so hard. It's just like fallen says, it almost never works out anyways. Be thankful for what you already have.

Any guy worth dating is worth the time it takes to get to know him
Thus the reason Ive never had a real date, most high school guys arent worth the time. Their minds are else where (lets just say Ive been known to hit pretty hard)

Be friends first and do not rush into anything, thats how most relationships are ruined, by moving too fast
Take your time let him know you are interested in him, but also let him know that first and foremost you want to be his friend. That will take the pressure off of him, and then who knows he might feel the same way
