Wear my logo necklace from '80 every day.

Van Hagar and Gary Cherone can lick my ass, though. No Dave, no good music.

Surprised Please don't tell me you just said Van Hagar is better than the Dave years.

Van Hagar is watered down, piddly crap. Dave himself puts it best.

"Classic Van Halen made you want to drink, dance and fuck. Current Van Halen encourages us to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship." - DLR

The songs are boring. Dave would shoot himself before peforming a song as cheesy as "When It's Love". They have a couple tunes that are tolerable, but they're nothing special. "Finish What Ya Started" has a good groove, but it's the same as all the other songs with the same little guitar melody. "Right Now" is good, but the video is better, which is sad. Without the video that was pretty clever and entertaining, it's just another song with a piano solo.

Dave was (and still is) a showman, he's got a unique voice and unique stage presence that Sammy doesn't even come close to. He's one of the best frontmen of all time because he thinks he's a god, and that ego and confidence makes his performance what it is (the gymnast in him doesn't hurt). The songs alone from classic Van Halen are above and beyond anything Van Hagar made (not even gonna mention Gary, 'cause I think everyone can agree that sucked beyond words). Eddie's riffs are harder, the music is more lively, and the lyrics are better.

EDIT: Pretty picture.

yeah, pretty pretty picture, but I was raised with more hagar songs from van halen "Dreams" To me is the greatest song I ever heard from them, "humans being" was second in my book. Songs with dave were good. I don't hate him, I shouldn't have said I don't liek him, he's ok, but to me not good enough. I guess my taste is rotton

Ack. The madness.

Dave will always be "good enough". He's still "good enough". He split his head open with the metal rod on the last tour, and still finished the song with blood running down his head before going to the hospital, where they found out he had pneumonia and hadn't made a big deal about it so they wouldn't cancel tour dates.

Sammy could barely make it through a single performance on the reunion without losing it.

Van Halen is legendary. Van Hagar is tolerable.

"Dreams" is the perfect example of Van Hagar being cookies and milk, while Van Halen is rock n' roll. Van Hagar sings about being in squishy love (which is much more Sammy's style), and Dave sings "Feel Your Love"...which is squishy in a whole different way. Cool

Sammy wants a girlfriend, Dave wants to bone the teacher. That's the whole difference. Laughing

ah, I accept them in my different ways. But "Dreams" Is still a good song, not like I'm gonna be a good widdle girl in a cute pink dress and drink milk (well I do for strong bones and teeth!1!!1!!!!1!) I'll just stay wearing simple t-shirts and gargo pants with the wallet chain by my side and dink pop, and one day to try a beer! I just like their music anyways, hagar or dave.

But it makes me weep to see someone say Sammy is better than Dave. Sad Little Sammy, with the baggy pants and ugly hair.

I have to start listening to more VH. The only song I know really well is Ice Cream Man, and that is because my dad used to sing it to me when I was little.

Yes, that's right. Besides that, I had a normal upbringing, though.

The fact that Van Halen seemed to frequently switch frontmen always confused me more. Its just more noticable that a frontman has left the band than lets say a drummer. Eddie Van Halen was and still is the reason why I'm a Van Halen fan.

Eddie is one of the most talented guitarists around. Sure he's kind of gone to s**t now but back in the day he could play like no one's business. Eruption, while not having any lyrics, is one of my favorite songs by them. The raw emotion in that guitar playing is breathtaking and worth noting.

Hagar was allright. David Lee Roth impressed me more in terms of stage performance. Whoever was with them last doesn't count because he just took the band to a new low.

Laughing Now that is hilarious. He's got all flavors and push ups too... But surely he means the actual frozen treat. Yes.

Anything from Van Halen self titled debut and 1984 is gold. Runnin' With The Devil, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Jamie's Cryin', Panama, Hot For Teacher...

Hot For Teach is their best video, when you're including music in it. Visually, Right Now was their best as far as being a unique video. But Hot For Teacher was a great concept (awwww, look at the little Davie...) combined with a great song. Plus there was eye candy for everyone. Stripping teachers and dancing VH boys. Although Dave was the only one who could remotely dance.

God awful orange suits...

I watched like a few Van Halen videos the other day. I have to say that Sammy Hagar just doesn't give the same video impact as David Lee Roth. But then again, I'm like comparing Panama to Humans Being (which I'm very suspicious of that being just for the Twister soundtrack.) Roth is exciting to watch and you know he's having fun. Hagar is like trying hard in his videos and its too dramatic for my taste.

Sammy has one move. The kick. Other than that, he's just...there. Oh, and squatting down a bit, and moving the mic stand back and forth.

Dave's a circus. Split kicks and spins and flips and that "I'm a god" ego.

Sammy does not sing better than Dave. Sad Dave has as signature voice and some major chops. His screams (like in Runnin' With The Devil) are awesome, and he's got this bluesy, jazz tone to his voice. Especially if you hear his solo record from awhile ago, Diamond Dave, where he does sing some blues/jazz songs.

Sammy is a typical rock frontman. He's got decent talent, but nothing that makes his singing stand out from anyone else. It's like comparing a member of a boyband to Steve Tyler. They both have the skill, but you know it's Steve right away. No one can tell those pussy boys apart.

ha, my mom don't like dave (don;t be hunting her down Razz ) She doesn't like runnin' with the devil because of dave screeming. But to me, dave doesn't seem to have a better singing voice than sammy. They're both good, but I just stand my ground saying that sammy is better than dave in singing, my opinion. I mean the songs that dave sang were good. But I just think that sammy is better at singing than dave. In some ways. It's not like I'm sayign that dave sucks at singing, I guess I'm used to more hagar songs. Oh the madness.

But why is he better. If you like Sammy better, fine, but why is he technically a better singer than Dave?
