I was trying to load some data and my PS2 said my data was corrupt. How could that happen? Is there any way to fix it? The game data that was corrupted was for DDR max and Virtua Fighter 4. They have an auto-save thing going on, could that have anything to do with it? Waa! I always take good care of my games and accesories!!! Why me?? I just need some answers. _________________ I have magical female powers

Same thing happened to me... But my memory card actually CRASHED instead!!!
All that precious data... gone!!! But some things, I'm glad were deleted.
Anyway... Yeah, I was playing Alien Hominid. I got to the last level on my own, and my friend and I beat the final boss. Yay!
A few days later, I load up the file. and awake to this crap!!!
By the way, after more play, and resaving, it still says my file is corrupted!!! |

What I do is play the game with a corrupted file, then I save it again. Hey, it worked for my kingdom hearts.
What happened was when I saved my KH file some message popped out:"Save data corrupted. Do you want to overwrite?" I picked YES and the corruption was gone. The old data was replaced by a new one.
I think I still have one more corrupted data to deal with in my memory card. It's a save file of Nanobreaker. I'm gonna deal with it as soon as I can. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. My memory card was corrupted when I played DDR max too! Maybe a glitch in the DDR games? _________________ "My heart burns for you like fire"

Anyone hear about the glitch for the Viewtiful Joe 2 demo? Apparently if you played it with your memory card in your enitre memory card would just be wiped. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

I got a letter from Playstation Underground along with the demo. It said and I quote: "Note: There is a glitch with the "Viewtiful Joe 2" demo. If your memory card is left in, the memory card data will be erased. Before play, please remove memory card." Or something like that. Well, I was bored one day, and played the demo, being a complete idiot, or just being plain lazy, I forgot to take the memory card out, boom.
So heed the warning. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MEMORY CARD IN WHILE PLAYING THE VIEWTIFUL JOE 2 DEMO!!!
OBEY THE WARNING!!! (God! That was a long post) |

Strange. Back to the corruption of memory cards. Anyone know how to fix it without spending f**king $20 on a new one? _________________ I have magical female powers

Actually, it's more likely to protect the memory card. The PS2 and X-bokx are installed with certain maintance unit that act almost as circuit breakers for the data, allowing the corrupted data to be blocked most of the time. ^^ Heh, I'm just ranting. More likely than not, you memory card probably has a jammed unit or chip. You should try saving over your data, like people suggested, and if that doesn't work, my suggestion is to get a new one. Unless you know how to dewire and remantle a 16 byte hardrive manual (I think that's what PS2 memory cards use...or was it 11 byte...?) |
