Photo Manipulations

I know artistic photography isn't allowed on this site since it is a fanart site and fanart doesn't include photos, but I have noticed a couple photo manipulations across the site. Are these being admitted now, or are these just a few images that had slipped past the site staff? I have a number of artistic photos that I'd love to share, but I know that the problem with making a photo catagory is that people would fill their galleries with random snapshots of their families and pets instead of art, or possibly even porn they claim to be artistic.

Maybe there could be a special catagory for photograpy. Maybe? If there was one it would have to be stricty monitered... including submissions from the people who already have enough posts to surpass the queve. I was just wondering what anyone's opinion on this might be.

If there's photomanips around, they were either submitted before the approval panel and haven't been caught yet, or they slipped by during a busy time. They're still not allowed because of the extreme minority that are well done fanart manips (instead of drawing inuyasha ears on a bad webcam shot in Paint).

The only issue with an art photography category is how subjective it is. One approval panel member may consider a photo ok, while another one would reject it. Like on Epilogue, there's a set standard of quality, but determining whether something is art or just a snapshot is so hard. I imagine there'd be tons of complaints of "why'd you reject this webcam shot of my sister when you let that picture of a person through?". Aside from definite guidelines like must be in focus, well lit, good composition, and all that, approving or rejecting based on artistic merit is really hard.

I'd love to see some good artistic photography, but the photography section on DA is a pretty good example of what most people consider artistic. Sad

If there was ONE member who was willing to approve all photography, then the regulations would be somewhat more stable. But that person would also have to reject the 200 snapshots that would be submitted every day. A lot of work.

Yeah, I imagine there would be a lot of images to reject every day. Maybe I'll just keep to the random image board then. Too bad the only images there that receive comments are screenshots and band pics. :shrug: Thanks for your time. Fallen. ^_^

In the future I may open a photography site if there is enough interest, but I don't expect anything anytime soon, there are some major fac projects that need to be taken care of first.

I have a quick question about Photography being submited on this site.
If some just edits a pic. and submits it as fanart could they be asked to remove it? 'cause I've seen some annoying edited pics and I've said to them that this is not a photography site then they get all bitchy about it.

If all else fails, you can send an e-mail to abuse@fanart-central.net and the abuse team will (eventually) look into it. Aside from taking pictures of your own art, FAC isn't really meant to show off photographs.

Maybe a small section? you could limit the number of picture allowed in there. Photo manipulations [i]are[/i] usually pretty funny. ^^

Edit: I know it's unrealted but, hey jhonen freak, how did you get your pics in you sig to go horizontally? I think they usually go vertically...is there a chart option in for the signatures?

(and, to align images along one row, you type them [i]in[/i] on one row. So instead of:

Use:
