Shinedown isn't underground.  They're from my city, woohoo, lol.
Only underground bands I can think of right now are Killswitch Engage, From Autumn to Ashes, and Cyclefly. If you've heard of Cyclefly, then..... wow. They have much-lacking-in-today's-music guitar solos, but the lead singer's voice is.... well, high pitched.

So good if you're into lyrics that have a point and well sung/played melodies and harmonies. A bit Irish, sort of.. awesome, though.
