Is it really that good, then, SSBM?
I adore beat 'em ups, but I've got a Gamecube now, whereas before I had a PS2 and an XBox. I find that the Gamecube is the best console out of the three, and have yet to play any beat 'em ups proper on it. These are the ones that I liked to play on the other consoles, same goes for Dreamcast as well.
Soul Caliburs one and two. The beat 'em up games that own all beat 'em ups.
Tekken 4- tense story line for it.
Dead or Alive 3.
Dead or Alive Ultimate.
Capcom vs SNK 2- PS2 version. Gamecube version is rubbish. Please don't flame me, people
Virtua Fighter 2- I even had a Saturn, which got me into video games.
Dead or Alive 2- Saturn version.
King of Fighters: Maximum Impact- PS2 version.
I tend to change me mind a lot, but I've found the perfect console for me, in the form of the Gamecube. I'm waiting for the Revolution to come out now. We'll hear from the big wigs at Nintendo in next year's E3 no doubt.
I like the Gamecube the best, too. One of the reasons is becuase the others have wacko controllers with a zillion buttons.
I don't play beat-em-ups much, but I've played Soul Calibur 2. Super Smash Brothers Melee is sooooooo much better.
Have you played SSBM, Silver Star?
I have both SSBM and Soul Calibur II at home. Both games are good but I end up playing more at SSBM _________________ A life with love will have some thorns but a life without love will have no rose |

SSBM's unique quality is its lack of a fixed HP system. Plus the facts that most all fighters have a double-jump, some attack that itself acts like a double-jump, and that you can dodge/recover from attacks while still in mid-air, gives Super Smash Bros. an unmatched ability for aerial combat. I mean, your average fighting game is all ground-based -- take a hit in midair and you fall back to the ground, right? (That was a REAL problem in the Digimon Rumble Arena games)
