Ohhhh.... I hate this series with a passion. I read it back when there were only seven books, and I was convinced that the seventh was the last. And then it wasn't! By the time the eighth book came out, I didn't even remember who any of the characters were, or what they were doing.

I don't remember much of the storyline anymore... But I remember being really upset that Matt was pulled out of the story. I hear that he comes back, but I refuse to invest the time required to reread the whole series. Especially since there's still no end in sight.

Tolkien was able to write an epic in only three books. I don't see why Robert Jordan couldn't take a hint from that.

I have managed to read the entire series (up to CROT) nearly five times
And I am thoroughly convinced the Robert Jordan is a genius.
Just the effort he put in to tying all of his loose ends (well most of them, the series isnt done yet) is astounding.

Oh and Mat does come back, majorly! Pulls the whole kidnap the . . . well I dont want to spoil it for anybody now do I Razz

I once tried to read one of the books, although I don't remember which one it was now,the series just wasn't suited for my tastes.I thought the stoty was ok,it was just the fact that the genders were so set against each other it drove me so nuts
that I couldn't finish it.Making and showing the differences between the genders is
fine but when they do it to the point that I can't imagine in the littlest way two
characters acually, honest to God truly, loving each other I can't take it.That and the fact that he kinda wiped off Tolkien with calling one of the mountains"Mount Dwoom" or some such thing it felt rather sad to me.Sorry to put your series down
it's only my own opinion is all.

*Shakes head* First off Jordan has in no way ripped of Tolkein.
There are no mountains of Doom in the Wheel of Time books; there is Dragon Mt. Kinslayers dagger, the Dragonwall (also know as the spine of the world) and the mountains of Mist (not to be confused with Tolkeins Misty mountains)

As for the gender thing, well if you havent finished the book I cant really say anything other than because you didnt finish the book the conflicts in the beginning cant mean much. Believe me that much detail is necessary once you get into the series and its one of the things that I think makes the books so great!

Sintro youre only on lord of Chaos? Ill try really hard not to spoil anything for you then, just keep on reading them and I promise its well worth it.
And if you have any questions regarding the books feel free to PM me, that goes for any one Smile

and umm... who do you think killed Asmodean? people say Graendal, but i really dont think so.

Ahh so I didnt look at the map

But the Mountains of Dhoom are a far cry from Mt Doom. They dont even have a real purpose other than being a name on the map, while Tolkiens Mt. Doom was a key feature.

As for who killed Asmodean. Graendal was too busy playing with her toys.
I personally think it was Ishamael. Chew on that one why dont you Wink

I dont know how much was spoiled for you, but Im not going to tell you more than that Razz

Ishamael.... you mean Moridin? RJ said it was solvable right when you read it, which i think rules out Isshy, and Graendal too for that matter.

I think it was done with Balefire. or more specifically, the balefire rod ter'angreal.
Which would explain why no one sensed the channeling. Or maybe not, who would have used it? I have to think about it more....

EDIT: Disregard all that Rolling eyes I did some research and it seems the all evidence really does point to Graendal... PM me about it

My thougts exactly! I stopped reading not only because i got some what confused, but also because the women are constantly harrasing the men and they never seem to get along. It seemed as if the whole plot of the story was to say that "Women are horrible mean creatures that never leave men alone!" We are not like that!... atleast, not all the time Wink Anywa, I read up to book five and stopped right there. Egwene got on my nerves so much (SPOILER!although i felt sorry for her when she was taken prisoner) as did Elayne. The only women i like are Min and (SPOILER!)Perrins wife (forgot her name) , although she can get very annoying also....
By the way, do you all think this series would make a good movie?
