I have a couple of Questions
1.How old do you have to be to get a tattoo
2.How do you give yourself one
1.How old do you have to be to get a tattoo
In most states you now have to be 18, even if you have parent consent. Some places will still do it if your parent says it's ok, but I wouldn't trust any of those. By the time you're 18, you've also had more time to think about it. In some cases, a tat that seemed like a great idea at the time can be a huge pain in the ass, especially if it's in a difficult to cover location.
2.How do you give yourself one
You don't. I'm assuming you don't mean with an actual gun, and the other ways will never look as nice. Prison tats are usually done with improvised ink guns, and it's far more painful than a professional one. You can also do them by hand, one dot at a time, but it's an extremely bad idea.

Even if you want something simple, it takes training and practice to know how deep to push the needle. If you go too shallow, it won't stay. Go too deep and it will be blurry. Plus, doing one prick at a time with a single needle is very time consuming and hard to control. Not to mention the higher risks of infection.

Wait until you're legal and at least get it done by a pro with good references for skill and health.

i got my tatoo a week before my 16th birthday... got it in holland... you can get one there at almost any age if you have your parents consent...

and my uncle did some of his tatoos by him self with a needle and east indian ink... he said he wouldn't recomend it...

as for the getting a pro one.. it didn't hurt the slightest bit when i got mine... but it differs from body part and person... eg. i got mine on my upper right arm... that part of the arm has a bit of fat on it so it's not painfull... but your wwrist on the otherhand has very little fat so will be far more painfull

I was trying not to give specific details about the bare minimum techniques. Razz I had a middle school teacher who tried to impress a girl by putting her name in big letters on his forearm with a needle and bottle of india ink when he was 15. Looked terrible, wobbly lines and blurred ink from where he pushed in too far.

And she's in Nebraska, so Holland may be a bit far.

Tat regulations by state

Nebraska Regulated State tattooing of minors is prohibited

So 18.

Break a tape deck apart and you can make a nifty gun with the motor part that spins the tape... Horribly painful, but it looks cool.

I guess it really depends on what your parents say(if you live with them)

your maturity level could also help as well

I've only been legal for two months and am flat broke, so no. But as soon as I graduate college (most likely) and have a full time job, I will. Luckily most of the creative side of the art profession doesn't care what you have drawn on your skin.

Never able to afford it while I'm young enough for it to look good, but a full back...something.

I did have a spiffy air brushed one on my lower back for the Crue concert. Razz

I don't know, someone here where I live said that you can be 16 years or older to get a tattoo, from "souless" dude, so guess it's not true, he was researching tattoo's for a school assignment.
A certain tattoo place is sponsering their tattoo parlor lately, that I've seen on t.v. I don't know how long they have, I don't care. I'll go there for one. (that is...when I'm rich!)
I indeed want a tattoo. Maybe a dragon crossing my heart on my back, no one will notice it, but it would be pretty cool. I defenately want a tattooo of "Danny Beaudry 1986-2005" on one of my arms. Danny's my cousin, or was. Maybe my right. and I'll wait 'till I'm 18 for that, or I guess more later when I do get some money. And I'm planning on getting a dragon tattoo somewhere! I just don't know where, not my ass, not my lower tummy, not where the ass meets the waist (those girls with those tattoos down there, to me, it means their sluts, or maybe it does meant their sluts, dumbasses) not my head, maybe my neck, still not noticable... I have no clue.
so you planning on getting somethin simular to that the :)when you have the money that is
No no no. It was for shits and giggles only. Like painting your whole body the team colors for a football game. I don't know what I'll get. Plenty of time to think about it while I'm $100,000 in debt for the next 25 years. It really depends on how much money I can set aside. I'm getting it done at Sunset Srip Tattoo, though.
I don't know, someone here where I live said that you can be 16 years or older to get a tattoo,
Where do you live? The laws are different per state. Some say no tats for anyone under 16 without parental consent, some say no inking of minors period.
y'see,I have a friend who has 5 tatoos...and she's only 13!!!! Her dad is a tattoo artist, and she got her first tattoo when she was 7.
And there's the key to that statement. If it's her parent, of course they're not going to bother with the law because it's very unlikely he'd sue himself. But if he inked another person that age, their parents could sue him for it.

I live in Minnasota, I have no idea on what they allowed, I just heard that you can be 16 or older. But I did know the fact that the laws can be different per state.
Minnesota    Regulated State    tattooing of minors is prohibited; tattooists are not regulated by State government in Minnesota. Tattooists may be regulated by city or county agencies.
Not positive if that's accurate, but more and more states are changing to no minors at all, not the other way around.

Tattoos cost a lot of money anywhere at good shops. A small one will run you $50.

A friend of mine just got her first one on her ankle, very small symbol with blue and black shading. Cost $45. I've never been very interested in the tiny ones.
