This is just something I read in the paper today. Apparently, Marge's sister Patty turns out to be a lesbian, and wants to get married to her partner. The episode runs that same-sex marriages have to be allowed in Springfield first, so Marge runs a campaign on her sister's behalf and wins. Homer ends up walking his sister-in-law down the aisle!

I don't know whether you guys in the US already know, but if you didn't know you do now. I, personally, think the hints are there that this would happen (although there was one blatant hint in the episode with the gay pride parade - the 'in the closet' part). Thoughts?

What? You mean apart from your total lack of continuity for the thread? Your whole post was obsolete at the point of;
So, personally, I don't care
...I would have even praised you had you posted this anywhere in spam.. even in it's own topic.. That's how pointless it was..

Anyway.. I never called you a newbie..

But there's still time..

Get some more posts and exp. points under your belt and I'll reconsider the 'n00bie' insult

Look, man, I don't wanna get into an argument or anything. I am FAR from a newbie. I've been on this site and on these forums a long time. But not under THIS username. I used to be shadow_of_darkness... but I just recently (three or four days ago) changed my username. On my old account, I had over 500 posts.
And, I, too, am a site helper (am on the approval panel)

I still don't see why you totally flipped out on me, but whatever.

Wow - I leave this thread for a few days and a war nearly starts! Very Happy

I love the Simpsons, it has lastability value, like few shows do. Let me rant about another show a bit here though - WHY did they cancel Futurama?

Homer rocks!

Maybe they cancelled Futurama to concentrate on keeping The Simpsons funny and to keep Family Guy running?

It is a fairly detailed series, Futurama, as is every cartoon, and I guess it would take too much to keep 3 major big-hitting cartoons going at once..

No matter how cool it would have been.

I suppose you're right - but still - Futurama, continuing on for the same period of time as the Simpsons would have been SO cool!

no word over here, the States, home of the Simpsons.

andagain...it's kind of hard to build up that particular character as a Maguiver fanatic and then suddenly say she's gay.

Selma: "What I miss??"
Patty: (satisfactory) "Maguiver....was wearing....a tank top"

and etc.

Fox hates Matt Groening's way of wanting to keep his show pure of Network Influence, so he told Fox to get lost when they tried to dictate the terms of how Futurama was presented. He didn't back down from network pressure and creative 'notes' so Fox buried his show in a stupid timeslot that would make it overridden with Football games and on so early, no one would be watching it when it did air.

Some news is the Cartoon Network might actually be interested in making some new episodes.

In reference to the point I made to begin with, I can say that there have have been hints that Patty is a lesbian, and I can give you an example. Remember the episode in which Santa's Little Helper turns out to be gay? Well, in that one, there's a gay pride parade, and one of the floats is called 'in the closet.' There are two people in it out of view. One voice is Smither's and the other is one of Marge's sisters!
