Dropping the pencil. My worst offense that happens the most frequently. It always falls point down (just my luck) and often leaves lovely dark lines that never erase fully.

The one Axl picture still has a vampire mark on his arm where the pencil fell and bounced. No one else can see it, but I still know it's there. Sad

I really hate it when I draw somethign really good, but alot of things suck on it, liek my sasuke picture I drew, I would tear it apart but something inside won't let me, or anyone else. I also hate it when I ink a picture but either the eyes are out of place or the hand sucks or something. I hate it when I ink my picture and it smears on the sketch <_< Oh well, I have gotten better, but I hate it when it happens.

YES! GRR! I hate that. Inking is like my killer. Because I can't seem to get the markers to trace it right, like i did when i drew it with pencils.

Anger >/

I always make smudges that aren't supposed to be there. Then I try to erase them, but the crappy eraser makes more smudges. Sad

Mairi, I feel your pain. I also hate when I forget to erase one part under the inking so it screws up my coloring...>.<;;;

Lately, the worst things that happen to my drawings are:

- Can't get the concept sketch looking to my satisfaction, so I end up erasing and re-drawing for hours on end.
- Erasing lines near the edge of the paper. Occasionally the eraser catches on the edge and then CRK! next thing you know I've crunched up the paper along that edge.

With hands, you just have to draw them over and over. Looking at tutorials can help you get a basic idea of how a hand is constructed, but drawing them again and again from life is your best shot at getting better at them. A person on another forum posted a college project he did, and it was a book that folded out into a massively long sheet of paper that was nothing but hundreds of hands in different poses. Look at whatever hand you don't use to draw with, and draw it over and over. It doesn't have to be highly detailed, just the basic shape. You'll get better quickly.

Yes, that's helps alot, you can also use your own hands for refence, take pictures of it or something, I use my own hand's for refence most of the time, it works, my hands used to suck, it took me a whoel year to get them right, look at my three lastest pictures in my gallery, they have improved much. So yeah, takes a while or a short while to get used to hands.

that does suck, but that's never happened to me before, and I don't think it will, I just draw a basic sketch, draw everythign out, then I outline it with ink, and it all looks great, not perfect but great, I see no lines missing so I go ahead and color it in photoshop, also photoshop is pretty easy, but there are some photoshop people who don't outline their picture and keep it sketchy, and that's what ruins the picture, some of them I've seen have good coloring in photoshop, but yet they keep leaving the sketchy lines. I also seen poeple not color their photoshop picture's right, I see that the outlining it like that has to keep the color inside, well there's a trick in photoshop that I see that not much now, use the...wait, I shoudl just make a photoshop thread for this. But yeah, I haven't seen any mistakes in my photoshop pictures, cept for annotomy proplems and maybe some coloring.

One time I was doing this stippling in class after pulling an all-nighter for another class... and I kept falling asleep on my drawing. In the end I had so many pen markings all over the paper, not to mention that if I were to use white out it would look weird on the yellowish paper and the ink would turn blue due to the excess moisture.

I hate it when I'm working in pastels and I rest my hand on the picture without knowing and then it smudges. Or when I try and erase a smudge close to the lines and it smudges more. Ore when Im inking something with lots of lines and I miss one or mess up. ><

Whenever something goes wrong (inking, coloring, etc.) I'm about to freak out... I can be really terrifying...
But then I usually use some flake white and try to save the pic on the comp after scanning it. ^_^

I've screwed up on everything there is to mess up on drawing. Made the head too big, eyes lopsided, the girl's head bigger than the guys.... Especially when i have the picture PERFECT, and i decide to color it with stupid rose art color pencils and ruin it completly. Sometimes, i just wish there could be an undue button or something...

I colored a pic with those I think. For now I stick with my crayola cloring pencils. They go well but I'd like to get some prisma colors

Crayola's not bad if that's all you have. I used to use those a lot... Of course, I love my Prismacolors and would never go back to Crayola, but... eh, you work with what you've got.

Anything's better than Roseart though. Seriously. Do yourself a favor and go out and buy some Crayolas - they're cheap, and they work a good sight better.

Yes, I think I will. I noticed too late that the Rose Art color pencils are the WORST possible color pencils, and I had bought a pack of 50. <_< They let you do no value at ALL. I'd go right now, but the hurricane Emily is close and its best not to got to Wal-Mart. I've never heard of Prismacolors (yeah, you can smack me over the head now) , but i'll look for them as soon as I can. If not, its back to Crayola as before.... Thanks for the tips y'all ^_^

Prismacolor colored pencils are very nice - they have a lot of pigment and soft lead for vibrant colors and easy blending. I love using them because of how easily I can use them to shade. The drawback is that they are very expensive - I only bought mine because they were on sale.

I don't know if Wal-Mart carries Prismacolors... I highly doubt it. However, it's likely that any reasonably-sized art supply store sells them.

Thanks, but I doubt my parents will spend that much money on color pencils, no matter how much I beg. I guess i'll just have to use Crayola. They've never failed me in the past and helped alot in art class, so i'm pretty confused at why I chose Rose Art.... I'm wierd like that sometimes. I don't have Adobe or any of those computer programs, so I have to stick to hand coloring.
