Correct. [i]Some[/i] Invision forums may give users ability to lock their own topics, but that's not so here on FAC.
Common reasons for a moderator/admin locking a topic are basically:
- Breaking/ignoring forum rules, i.e. rampant spamming, flaming, etc. between members in that thread
- Breaking/ignoring special rules for an individual forum section (like the "no copy & paste" rule in the Fanfiction section)
- Thread posted in the wrong section (though, often, it may just get moved to the proper section by a moderator/admin)
- Thread posted in multiple sections (aka "cross-posting"), one section is enough
