I'm not one of those people who thinks that cheerleaders are an evil girl Mafia as portrayed in so many teen movies, but I really don't think any activity where girls jump around in miniskirts and yell out rhymes should be considered a sport. Sounds to me like it was invented by dirty old men.
What do you think? _________________ |

I think the same things. Its like in sports films : the only thing I hate are the cheerleaders... yeah I know, film are film but anyway : even in the real life : I got real stories about sad things that happens to these girls juz cuz of the guys and I don't think it's a good thin'. Yeah, cheerleaders are there to cheer up the team : but there are many people that watch a game a cheer the players themselves... well, cheerleaders is not a sport for me, it's a game. and sumtime a very bad game. |

well, aside from those cheerleading contests, cheerleaders don't win in cheerleading when they are doing what they are supposed to do, like cheering a team, they have no opposing cheerleading team and so noone wins. And cheerleading isn't even a game to begin with. So it's not a sport, because noone wins, only the teams (football, basketball, baseball teams). Like fishing, what dumbass' think that's a sport?! _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

My previous school doesn't really consider it a sport. Its more like a club to them.I don't really think its a sport either.I joined cheerleading once and I must say it does takes a lot to meet up to the stunts and stuff. And injuries.YOu got to be prepared for them. |

I think it is a sport. Pluse cheerleaders are most entertaing part of the football game. Espically when they really hot cheerleaders. Only females can do cheerleading because it't not right when men do cheerleading. |

I'll be the first to say that I hate cheerleading with a passion. However, there are cheerleading competitions, and you do have to be athletic to do the things the pros do. (Why any one would want to be a pro cheerleader is beyond me... then again being a pro bagpiper may seem silly to someone else.) Though I don't think sports are designated to just "athleticism, sweat, and football."
As for the comment about it not being right for men to cheerlead.. <_<. _________________ "I've got a sticky Darodo!"

I consider cheerleading as a sport and not as one at the same time.
I know it's a very hard trainning and you can get badly hurt doing so. Also it is a lot's of training to get to do the stunts.
I can't put the finger on why I don't consider it as a sport though... but I think I consider it more as one. I'm confusing myself now.... _________________ A life with love will have some thorns but a life without love will have no rose |
