If you have one of those wooden manikens, and are unsatisfied by the lack of movment, take my advice and GET A K'NEX MAN. They can bend in every pose you would ever want, and the anatomy is relitivly the same as normal people (this exculdes the face). I highly recommend using them, because the wide range of movement. The only problem with them is you can't use them for shading, but if you have the means to obtain one, I'd highly recommend it. (I <3 k'nex)

...

By the time you're smart enough to figure out that your wooden manikin is not the best, you don't need manikins anymore.

:huh: Not true.

Artists who have been drawing for 20 years still use mannequins because human anatomy take a massive amount of time to learn how it would look in any pose from any angle. Living models are better than mannequins, but you usually don't have that.

Not everyone can be Loomis, with a perfect understanding of all anatomy and body types. Sad

O.O I don't have a Maniken... I draw all of my bodies freehand, I generally look at pictures of my friends for referance if I can't figure something out, or I ask my friend, who is ubar good, what she thinks could be changed to make it better... suprizingly my bigest, and about only, problem is balance... I tend to have things heavyer on the left. ^^;

Some people don't need one, but I don't think it would hurt to have one.

*weirded out* My friend named hers Adam as well.

I would like one so that I have a more 3-Dimensional grasp of the figure. Photos are great, but a good deal of the time they aren't available from every angle so you can't tell what's going on with a certain part - you have to guess which can be frustrating.

Now if someone made a posable model of the human hand, that would be cool. Staring at my own can be a bit... frustrating. Especially when I need the one I use to draw as reference. :blink:

Ironically enough an add for adult-sized manaquins showed up at the top of the page after I posted this. XD

My art teacher has a posable wooden hand for drawing. Too bad two of the fingers are missing. The stupid freshmen always put it's middle finger up everyday.

My manikin's name is Fredrick the Useless. Useless becasue the joints are way to stiff for the more difficult sort of poses.

My manikins (male&female) are both useless, cause they have arthritis, so I dismembered their members.

I don't have a mannequin. xD I could use one, though, because most people complain about how typically androgenous my art is.
