Oh, I do. I very much respect the work that you people put into this site. I, in no way, meant any offence to you, Denis, Fallen, Kate, or others.

But most of the problems I listed in the firts post are problems I've had from ay one with this site. They've just become more accentuated as of late.

If you have a problem with what the community has come work to make it better.

go recruit what you consider "better" forum regulars and change the community for the better.

I can do without more people like the members of OS, but there are several members who have left over time who were a good contribution to FAC.

FAC would just get worse without you as it did with everyone who left. Sure, I wasn't here for Mandark, but I think you should stay. Oh, well. Just my opinion.

Well, if you rarely post and don't PM us or talk to us about changes that you think would be a good idea, we can't do anything. The mods cannot read your mind. IF you want to leave, I'm not stopping you. It's your decision. I'm not saying I like how the forums are right now, but it's something to do. I mean, people come on, IT'S JUST THE INTERNET. LIFE WILL GO ON. There is life outside of your little computer.

Look, the jury is still out on this forum, but all my ranting and raving should be taken seriously. These are things that have been bugging me for a while, things I would often try to point out and deal with through my comic. I like this forum, I really do, but really, I can't change much about it. I just keep plodding.

I'm torn between Will and the mods on this. The forums are going through changes and times are not as exciting now. And I guess it has been like this for a long time. I haven't really noticed it until like two or three months ago but now we're all an all time low. But really, all places have like a slump but it can only get better. I don't mean to sound like a kissass but I do trust the mods and Denis and I plan to check up on here once in awhile and hopefully we'll all see that FAC will be a better place for us.

All we can do is wait and see and help out FAC when it needs the help. More members will come and who knows? Maybe we'll get more interesting people that we'll like. Its possible. Smile

The sad thing is its true. Everyone had "faded away" to the point where I only know a few people on here now. I myself hardly even come to these forums now and I used to post everyday for an hour.

Its sad to see the forums go down in flames like this, and all the people that I thought were awesome have now left for better things Sad

I agree with Will on this one. I really need to start a name in Lasher's forums.

First and foremost, this is a fanart site. If you want stimulating discussion, go to CNN.com and whine about Bush and oil and terrorist with the rest of the wind bags. If you want deep, thought provoking discussions, go find some site for philosophy. However, if you want lighthearted, and for the most part casual conversation about entertainment and hobby art, then this is the place. We are not set up to decide whether abortion is wrong, but we made the effort! Look at the new forums for it. [i]Start threads in them if you want meaningful discussion, someone will probably answer.[/i]

Second, look at DeviantART. Do you know what it was five years ago? A tiny community just like FAC was and still is in comparison, full of people who knew each other and talked on a regular basis. It was very friendly and casual. Look at it now. As new people arrive, it grows and changes. Now there's thousands of people in the forums, and you can only recognize a few who post constantly. It's a very different atmosphere, but is that bad? Is it worse than how it was to have fifty people give their opinions than five ones you knew and cared about? It's all up to you. No successful community will stay small forever. When older members finally move on, there has to be new ones coming in, or it will die. Be happy that FAC is growing, or find a new baby site to adopt.

Third, the changes will take time. It took time to adjust to all new changes. Remember the uproar about the approval panel? It worked! There's far less art in the wrong places, and screencaps/photos/lined paper is caught as it's submitted. And people got used to it. The increased number of forums seems like a pain in the ass, but give it time to settle in and see if it just might be a good idea too.

And now a few things in particular:

They were not "the soul" of this forum. This forum existed long before they arrived, and it will continue to exist after them. They were an annoyance and mild source of entertainment in the beginning, at best. They overstepped their bounds and refused to back down, so they were expelled. Anyone who felt they were "the soul" of this forum either has not been around much longer than they were or belongs with them on their slowly wilting forum.

If you're talking about Matt_lee or whatever his name was, he didn't leave. He made about five new accounts one after the other, trolling the boards. I believe that was his signal he'd rather be banned and didn't enjoy participating as himself, no? As for Flea, he abused his site staff status and was stripped of the title and our respect, which caused him to leave. He was welcome to stay as a regular member but chose not to. Rayme is still around now and then, but she moved out on her own and has been busy with life.

That all depends on your definition of "better". It will most certainly get bigger, and if "better" is a more varied community with more participation, then yes it will. If "better" is a close-knit community of great people who are familiar with each other, those days have come and gone, and you'll have to find them elsewhere.

As slow as it appears, I really quite enjoy it. It's what FAC was well over a year ago with all the fat trimmed away. I [i]care[/i] what Lasher or Gray thinks of a topic. Do I really care what GenericInuFan007 thinks? Not particularly. Quality over quantity there. I'm sure she'd appreciate more members, but I enjoy posting there as is.

There's very few things on the internet I hate more than people whining for the "good old days". I've been on more forums than I can remember that grew and changed, and you either stay or you leave. I could rant until I was blue in the face about "omg Metal Sludge was so much better four years ago! Now all the people suck, and there's too many of them, and no one posts good stories anymore, it's the same crap over and over..." but I don't because that's gay. What's gonna happen, kick out 80% of the people? It's pointless. Either adapt or move on. Kill or be killed. You know the sayings. So I choose to adapt. I deal with the repetetive garbage and pick out the good bits I still enjoy, and I do the same here.

If anyone has rights to complain, it's Denis, Kate, and Me. Laughing

You all suck and we hate you. Go back to how it was. Grr!

Honestly, it's so silly to complain like this. If you hate the way things are, write up a big list of suggestions, send them to me, and I will personally go over and propose anything practical. None of us can do anything with a vague complaint of "it's no fun anymore".

I could have walked away from FAC a year ago, before OS even. Or quite a ways before that when Vince trolled the entire site and community. Sitting around kicking his friends out of chat wasn't fun. Explaining to people why tubgirl was coming up when they clicked on a picture. I like to think Denis [almost] randomly picked someone as one of the first mods who may not be the most level headed or mature or respectable, but I'm damn well dedicated and stubborn. And so is Kate. We haven't walked away yet when things were frustrating, other members of the staff have. We've stuck it out because I, for one, have faith that there will always be something here I can make do with and enjoy.

But it's up to everyone to decide whether there's still something here for them or if it's time to find a new site. Make the decision and act on it. Unless we're given suggestions, this obscure complaining for the good old days does nothing but annoy.

So there you have it, the "meathod" behind my "madness". I really didn't mean for this to get so out of control, I was never pointing out flaws in the mods, and did not intend for such to be done by others. Though, in retrospect, should I have really expected anything less?
