Depends on what kind of horror you're going for. You've got to know what kind of mood you want to convey to your reader and you've got to know what words to use to portray that mood. Carefully chosen words and sentence structure are key in whatever your writing, be it horror, fantasy, comedy etc. In any kind of general a-typical horror story you want to set up some sort of tension: Someone's outside your house, scraping at the windows to get in on a dark and stormy night. Or: You're being chased by something large that keeps gaining on you and all of a sudden you trip and twist an ankle. That kind of thing, you can create any kind of situation you want to. Darkness and confinement add to the horror feel as well. Isolation is a biggie, too: The main character is alone in the wilderness, way out of reach from civilization, and then big red eyes appear in the distance. Or again any other kind of situation you can think of--there's just the main character and whatever it is that creates the horror. Be creative with it and give it a shot, there's no real way you can be wrong about it. _________________ "I've got a sticky Darodo!"
