I think I fixed it. Close enough.

Given the options, fanart. Most of my non fanart stuff doesn't qualify as "character".

I voted Origonal Characters. I have much more of them than fanart, probably because I have this weird feeling that I don't give them justice when I draw them. Yep... classic Roni weirdness...

Although I enjoy drawing other people's origonal characters as well... Razz

Fanart. It's easier to work with something recognizable and something you know the limits of already, I think.

Chalk another one up for original characters. I like drawing fanart too, I just don't do it that often. I'm much more familiar with how to draw my own characters, so they're more likely to appear when I'm randomly drawing. I'd rather have people admiring my style instead of just the subject content...

I don't make up fan characters based on existing series. I like to enjoy an anime or manga for what it is - I don't go about messing with it.

I'm a firm believer that the purpose of anything other than original character in this site is so you can attract fangirls and fanboys to come to your gallery,

oh, and for the namesake.

i voted OC... granted i couldn't make my mind up between the second and the third choice but that's because i make most of my characters up from something i've read.

But alot of fanart i've seen just doesn't do the character justice not saying all of it. there's some darn good pieces here. but i'd rather see original work what people doodle and then take that picture and turn it into a detailed picture. I've done some of those..... Okay, i'm talking to long... Although i agree with brianhjh. Fanart get's people to hit the site.

Let's count how many fangirls/boys Taime has gotten me...oh, right, none. :(

If I wanted fangirls, I'd start flooding Depp pictures. Your theory is flawed.

comic drawings....I could draw anyones character. not being a prude, just I find it easy to copy other comic works. I like and have been drawing my four little girls as a team for four years now, and as individuals for almost 30. I guess Id say my own. I only draw others as gifts, commissions, or for collector sites.

and Fallen your stuff should be some of the most hit, but I think since your fanart is of bands instead of anime it dosent.....still great though! hmmm, mine dosent either, unless I post nudies <_<

vote = original characters

OCs all the way. I luv drawing my own characters, because it's easier, and you can do whatever you want to them (like change their hairstyles/eyestyles, etc.).

I have quite a few characters. The characters that I have had for the longest time (cause I couldn't part with them) are Ray (the longest, has been around for one year now), Shing (the evil, wolf/phoenix demon) and Taiki (my kawaii, sweet and caring alien).

Anime: D.Gray Man

Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)

Or perhaps the fanartists aren't the ones who use the forums all that much. ^_^

i like to stick to the originals, that way you see the more creativeness of an artist. not saying that some artist arent as creative if they do fanart, but i swear if i see another poorly drawn face pic of inuyasha i will make sure they are placed with the curse of every time they go to a public bathroom they get constipated and there will be no tolet paper for them, hehheha. ok you know thats not gonna happen but oh well.

I stick to drawing OCs. I absolutely cannot do fanart. I mean, I know it's okay to do fanart in your own style, but I always feel that my style won't do the characters/series any justice at all, so I avoid it. ^^;

What I draw most often is my original characters, but I very rarely post them on fac. I came here to have somewhere to post my fanart, and I keep coming back to look at other peoples' fanart. I know that people wouldn't care about or want to look at random pictures of my characters (or maybe I just think so because I have a hard time being interested in an original character that somebody else made if I don't know their story/have read a comic starring them etc. etc.), so I keep most of my original character pictures for my own site. My original characters are my own personal fantasies, and I think they deserve better than beeing squeezed in between a bunch of crappily drawn fanarts (talking about my own gallery here).

I first started off as I believe almost every artist did. I looked off of others art. I would draw the exact same thing as best as I could. I remember thats how I got introuble here when i was new, I was accused of tracing a picture from an artist named Arwen.

But anways I first started to draw screencaps of my favorite anime Inuyasha and everything took off from there. All I used to draw was fanart or look for other artist's art for ideas. Now I tend to stick to my own characters/ideas. But other artists art has an immense on my art as well, i look for ideas from them when I have artists block.

Each holds different favor. I like to see original characters, but an original spin on a licensed character can be just as interesting. I like seeing people add their own flavor to a character.
