Fac should not have any popup ads. Its possable one of the advertisers is sneeking some in but more likely either
a. You went to another site that spawned a hidden window that spawns othere popups.
or
b. You have adware on your computer.

anyone else having this problem?

Yar. Thought only once awhile I would get one, but my firefox blocked them so I don't get them, I rarely see them on the site pop-up, so its not a big deal to me Smile

I haven't gotten any pop-ups on FAC in months.

Make a note of which pages they are/were.

I haven't seen any,

I'm pretty sure it is either adware or Denis' secret conspiracy to squeeze every last dime out of website advertising as possible.

Apparently the popups are summoned by a few of the banners... somehow.... (just saw one on IE). The particular popup was loaded in from ad.yieldmanager.com, but unfortunately I didn't note which pop-up it was (one of the zedo ads, but, yeah, that doesn't help) .

I'd wager that IE has a hidden "feature" that allows pop-ups to occur without relying on Javascript functions (since it doesn't occur on FF, only IE).

That is quite odd since yieldmanager is Right Media which is not currently an active advertiser on FAC (their rates dropped too low)

Anyway, I'm working on completely redoing the advertising system on FAC and selling some ad space on my own again so if there is some reminant left of Right Media it should be gone soon.

All I can say is that when the pop-up appeared, I'm pretty sure IE's title bar read something like "ads.yieldmanager.com" ... I searched the page's HTML for references to it, but no luck.

One of the popups appeared in Firefox. The source domain for them is yieldmanager.com -- which is also the source domain for a few of the animated-GIF banner ads.

I haven't used yieldmanager in like half a month, but mamma media was giving out popups. I emailed them and there should be no more from them.

let me know if you get any more.

Is the popup one of the first 10 ads you see?

Since the banner ads are stored in iframes linked in from offsite, the offsite server must be the one generating the popups... because the FAC server sure as heck isn't doing any automatic javascript:windowOpen calls....

No, none of them come from FAC.

I'll bring it up when I contact impressionup later today.
No, none of them come from FAC.
Exactly, they're likely generated by the contents of the banner ad iframes (which are stored on the adserver, not FAC server).

I can't be the only one who knows how frames/iframes work Wink

/me loves the "Web Page (complete)" option -- successfully captured a pop-up ad on disk.

Check out the zipfile for a pop-up ad in captivity! Species: Poppuppi Annoyus

But damn it, I was right. I didn't want to be proven right! Grr! :P

FAC page (saved as "temp_popup.html") contains an iframe for banner ads
- Banner iframe links to "ff2.htm"
- ff2.htm contains a javascript reference to "pops6.js"
- pops6.js is what actually calls the popups
