I've noticed an overwhelming amount of sonic the hedgehog fans on this site, and I was just wondering, why? Whats so good about sonic? The most of the games never really held my interest and Sonic annoys me. So i'm wondering, whats with the sonic attraction? Am I supposed to be taking some special medicine that makes me obesseded with sonic and wanting to draw thousands of sonic OC's? So if someone wants to let me into the loop on what makes sonic so great, please tell me.

Have no idea either. I was just talking about this with a friend, neither could get.
I like Sonic and everything but not to a extent of these fan ppl, drawing millions of fan characters. There does seem to be a lopp though, coz ive heard ppl commenting backwards and forwards about their new characters and whatever.

Much of my childhood was filled with Sonic (the games, the show, the comics). I've just always really enjoyed the playing style of the games. And I really the like designs of the characters. They're fun to draw. Animal characters, namely back when I was a kid, were a rarity in videogames, so it was refreshing to have a game with well-drawn cartoon animals.

my younger times i've been playing sonic more than anything and it really perked my intrest with the amazing speed and cool bosses in the 3-D games and the game is really fun to play...but for the sonic x show ehhh

The sense of speed is fun. Simple as that. Although the 2D Sonics felt faster than the 3D ones. Sad

I can't wait until Sonic Gems Collection and Sonic Rush! I'm sort of excited for Shadow the Hedgehog, but why does he need a gun?! WTF?

I haven't played much Sonic, only a long time ago when I was much younger. o.o; Personally, I'd like to know why there's so much fanart of Sonic, too. It's been bugging me, especially since there aren't really any posts about it in games/anime/manga till now [this one]. :/ I mean, the amount of Sonic lovers on the forums should be proportional to the fans on the main site, right? Neutral

I never got this, really... Maybe it's because of the slightly-oldish Sonic anime on the Fox Box? Most of the Sonic art seemed rather mediocre in skill, so I think it might be from some of the younger inexperienced kids who watch the show. :/ I dunno. =_=;

well i used to like sonic, i played the games for the mega drive and the master system, but one day i stepped on fac and saw thousand of horrible bad drawn sonic OCs and that was too much... they *literally* killed sonic... well anyways, i think people draw sonic OCs because they are quite simple and they think their draws will not suck so much... (actually they do... U)

Anyways. About the whole 'Big Sonic Fanart' thing. It bothers me as well. I've tried playing one of the Sonic games, and nearly fell asleep of boredom.

They aren't appealing to me. I don't see what's so fun about them.

Plus seeing all this "OMFG!! KAWAII!!!11!!!2!!!" stuff from Sonic characters is starting to make me go all.. :wacko:

I dunno why it's taking over.. but it's annoying.

That second one wasn't very nice,Sam.He wants to give his opinion and you just went straight and told him to blow off. Sure he has some spelling issues.Now before this thread goes off track,I'll give my opinion on Sonic.

I use to play Sonic when I was a kid. All those Nitendo catridges...and Sonic 3d are pretty awesone.But now with new characters and such I don't really like to play the game anymore.I've watched Sonic X but after a few episode it just bores me. To me Sonic is a video hero and not meant to be a 3d game character.

For starters *sorry off the topic* I looked at ure profile and I think ppl would like it if u stopped lying coz on it it says ure a teen. Plus a immature one at that to not discuss the topic maturely.
Right bak to the topic and sorry again, just thought it had to be sed coz of the rudeness going on.
Wut I hate about the sonic fanart on this site alot also is when these ppl make OC's, theres vertually nothing there to look at. I mean I've seen at least a 100 in the past few days that look basically exactly like the real characters part from different colour and have a lame name. Some I've even seen where all they have done is nicked a screenshot and changed the colour of the character/s in it. I just don't find that good and interesting to look at on the site.
I don't like Sonic Heroes as much, dunno, just wasn't overly fond of storyline. And found DX to easy to do and to many errors, like u could b vertaully like running a mile from the wall but yet u still fall right through it.
I love the old fashion sonic games, I liked the older TV series alot more too. Kinda in some ways like mario. I love the simple game of, go through 2D stages, get the emeralds and rescue Tails but thats just me.

I hate to pick on people, but if they throw it underhanded, I have a duty to knock it out of the park. I'm not excited about sonic games because they are all the same. The first time I played one I did like the sense of speed, but it just boils down to run, jump, attack, collect rings, attack, get hit, scramble to collect rings, and repeat until you reach a boss, then you cut out the running. But I must admit I loved the original Sonic cartoon when I was younger. I still don't get whats so captivating about sonic though. Maybe subliminal messages in the games?
