Naomi, sad to hear of the comp probs, do miss seeing your works. once again the piece your working on here is excellent. if you can do me the favor, note me on DA with how you cg your armour shines, this latest has the girls in thier armour and Iri's shoulders and breast plate, and Miki's collor protector need to have that look. Id appreciate it if you could help. Bruce
The girls are looking totally awsome. Like, really wow
I suck at explaining stuff but hopefully this will help. Excuse my crappy handwriting and my inability to explain coherently ^_^
One

I guess a lot of it is intuitive, but that's basically how I start off. Most the time the colour of my second light is the same as the main source (lazy or careless, you choose ), but a different colour is always more dynamic as long as it's consistent.
Oh, my new WIP (Still haven't installed photoshop so excuse the fuzzy resize)
It's Liodain...again! But oooo, a different style, a nod to my comic book roots.

Naomi, thanks so much for the tut. I did look over many a pic by You, Adam Hughes, Al Rio, and others, to atleast see how the color changes move from light to dark to reflective light, to complete the picture. The finnished picture is posted on DA. I never really did shines on steel often, and this great in showing how to layer. This is an excellent little tutorial.
I am so happy to see a new pic of Liodain being done by you. I love that character of yours better than most of my old (Marvel/DC/TC) favorites, and this has such movement to her. Cant wait to see this finnished. please update, at least in your scraps on DA often! And thanks for the compliment on the girls. Im glad you like them too.
This is (sorry about the size of 1000pix wide) of ToniBo and Shelly (my son thought up a name for Toni's dog) relaxing at her home in Mystic Island, NJ. The paint is already on and half shaded. I dont know if Ill be able to post the finnished copy her at FAC. My pictures are to large in k anymore for this site, and I hate shrinking them smaller. They just distort. JPGs look crappy too, and I cant even load the PNGs of these files.
cc and comments always appreciated. Bruce _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.' - Ronald Reagan |

I won Monthlyanimegaijin.com for July so come September, Liodain will be up for everyone to draw. I hope you'll consider entering  Hell, I'll stuff the ballot box so everyone gets to draw the Angels next
I have to resubscribe to Deviantart, I can barely stand to look since all those ads came back

LOL, I'm a regular WIP now...
This is a doodle sketch that became interesting... I'm either going to shade it with pencil or refine it in to a pencil sketch and color it with pencil cryaon... _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Naomi, Id love to draw Liodian, but I went to the site and someone elses character from the previous month was up yet. I also dont know how that site really works. I dont see the poll (even though Im sure its closed) for your character, yet I can pull up archives from years ago, and I dont know how I would post....guess Id have to subscribe to them first. Ill have to recheck the site. Bruce
I was going to open an adult area on my site of the girls, but with a new possition I have at work, I dont think Ill even be able to get most inked for awhile. plenty of pencil sketches in "R" NC17" and "X" but I cant post them here _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I finally got my watercolor block
(I'm a pov student and the only good watercolor paper I can afford is Canson Montval block that is only sold in a store 130km away from me:( )
anyway, I discovered the joy of painting without palette (dipping automatic water-feed brush directly into the paint tubes) and I'm gonna try to watercolor this... but before that, I should outline with my waterproof sanguine ink liner beforehand...
I have holbein watercolor... terrible stuff for beginners as they cost like, 9 bucks per 5mL tube... should have just got Cotman but nooooooo....
Two anime boys running...

latest Angel sketch. Its Miki! Miki being a little naughty this picture is on DA and has an "R" rating, so anyone to young or offended by the female form...dont open it. this pencil is only of half the pic, cause I dont know if DA would even allow a full body nudie.
One Clean Angel
comments and or cc allways appreciated. Bruce _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.' - Ronald Reagan |

My latest sketch is from .hack//Legend of the Twilight. It's when Shugo uses data drain for the first time. I still need to finish and ink it. |

This is borderline R, I think, I don't like drawing pictures in the R and NC area since I hate that thumbnail thing >_<
anyway, This needs to be cleaned up, and outlined with something markers can't dissolve... what was it again? _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Finished... took about 3 hours maybe?
prisma markers... yes, I need to improve.
ths shota didn't come out as well as the woman, shouldn't have used dark skin tones first without layering... _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |
stippling?
Yep. It's the one technique I can attempt decently. I think that's how I got started with pixel art. _________________ |
