I don't really know why, but another thing that bothers me very much is when people look at a drawing say "You did better than I could ever have done!"
That comment bugs me a LOT. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like anyone's complimenting on anything when they say it.

Time to revise my list.
- ANY picture with the word "new" or "anime" combined with "look", "style", "version", "me". Pics such as "Such-and-such's New Look!" or "Anime Me!".
- ANY anime OC's with a supposed relationship (child, brother, seventh cousin twice removed, etc.) to an official character.
- ANY anime OC very obviously based on the artist's absurd love of said anime.
- ANY picture whose title starts with asterisks, underscores, or other nonalphanumeric characters because the artist thinks it is "uber cool" and will make their picture appear top of the list. It's been done so damn much, it doesn't freakin' work anymore.
- Anime humans with cat/dog ears and tails. It's been done....
- Mouthwash: That is, ANY overly fangirly or positive comment left on one of my pictures claiming stuff like "it must have taken you ages!", "I couldn't draw like that if my life depended on it!", " *FAVS* ", " *fav artist* ", etc. etc. etc. yada yada yadda. Some of my pictures have only 2 or 3 comments, only because the newer comments aren't worth keeping and I delete them.

hmm... this thread was dead for nearly 11 months... but, oh well.
My pet peeves is probably...
>Mouthwash, as strata described above...
>and crappy propagandas, such as, f**k you Flamers!!! pic that I'm seeing a lot nowdays, and that noob_artist_is_fake pic.
I'm tempted to paint a poster of a vintage soviet progagandas... at least THOSE were good. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

If it's just a random name, one from an original story, I don't care as much. But when it's an OC from an anime... arg. People who do that should be shot. If you want a Japanese name, go get a book or check out a site like Behind the Name.com. |

More things that annoy me. These are all minor issues, and I find them annoying primarily because I'm a category person:
- Pictures with no title. Hey, it HAS happened....
- Pictures with no description. I always like to hear the artist say SOMETHING about the picture, unless...
- Any pic whose description includs the phrase "title says all" (or equivalent). The title rarely truly says "all", and when it does, they shouldn't even need to say that it does.
- Meaningless keywords. Such as typing in the category path they put the picture into, as a keyword.
- Artists who consistently ignore character subcategories (e.g., who don't go any deeper than 2 levels into the category heirarchy) and put their pics directly under the series when there's a subcat available. Makes more work for the category crew to handle.
- People who think that just because it's animated, it belongs under anime. (i.e. fanart of American cartoons) Doesn't happen very often, but again, as a category person I'm sorta sensitive to that confusion.
- Commonly confused categories because we don't have public descriptions for them (yet). Example: non-RP-based furries in Original > Characters > RP Characters > Animal Characters. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Something that bothers me.. Tracing and those who accuse others of tracing. Tracing is annoying yes, but it's going to happen especially on a site populated by 12 year olds. When I was like 9 I traced a few times. I wasn't some evil lil theif, I just sucked ass at drawing and wanted to not suck. Kids do that kind of thing. I don't know what to say about teens that seem to be tracing. That is just weak. They are pathetic, and will never be recognized as anything other than unoriginal tracers.
Those who accuse tracers are just as annoying. "OMG this person is tracing! BAN THEM!.. it makes me sick to see this person stealing. How pathetic. I'm physically sick". These people are especially annoying when tracing isn't even apparent and it's obvious the person just tried to freehand an existing image. Honestly though why freak out about it? Tracers are obvious. They will never be artist of the month, they will never be recognized or praised by anyone other than 10 year olds who don't know any better, and they will never grow as artists.
I'm not saying that tracers can't be reported. We will always call them on it, and ask them to draw their own images or give credit to the original pose. It's a little hard to get a tracer to actually admit to tracing though and even with absolute proof, it's still hard to call. There are always going to be tracers. Find one, and 50 others pop up. Go ahead and report them and leave a CONSTRUCTIVE comment to them suggesting that they try and be more original. Just don't spend every minute of your fac time fuming about it, and flaming their profiles and submissions. Its not worth it, and it just causes a bigger problem.
And be aware that if you call someone on tracing and they flame you, if you start insulting them back, you will receive the same warnings they do about the flaming b.s. _________________ |

People who trace art don't bother me, people who SUBMIT them do. I have a 20-page sketchbook filled with tracings from FLCL manga and Naruto, but I don't submit it since they aren't "Art" they are mere exercizes. (The art in FLCL is the coolest thing ever)
I still think they shouldn't be allowed here. or if we have a "scrap" section like Deviant Art, maybe. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

You didn't forget about the "click for full size" option, did you? Or do you mean the full-size image is so darned huge that it doesn't fit within 300kb?
I don't mind a full-sized image to the tune of, say, 800x600, but people who upload 7,000x3,000 sized images because it any smaller would make it "disappear" are beyond my understanding.

I can't stand when people upload 2 minute MS Paint doodles (without even changing the original colors ) and expect comments. _________________ |

new layout? :o
Brian wants to beta test stuff!
EDIT: Apparently, Haha21 tested if banters would be more helpful in making him popular than constructive criticisms/OMG! it's so gewd!.
He says he's stopping the test now, He and I figure that it WORKS.
anywho, I've seen his picture, sadly to say, if he ever comes to the forum, he'll be up there with Nova and Tom. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Related: People who complain about a picture receiving comments for a picture that has been approved only TEN MINUTES AGO. (Especially when it's the same artist)

He got the "criticism" part right... but he seems yet to learn the "constructive" part. "OMG u suck SO bad never pik up a pencil agin!!" That's not constructive. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Well, I don't have to many pet peeves, just stalkers who start flaming you and won't stop. But I usually just delete their posts until they get the point. (Like this one kid, I had to delete 59 comments before he got my point) |
And Strata about the thing with sizes. No I didn't forget about the click for full size. It won't let me submit the picture through the first time unless it's 300kb.
Most of my pics are around 400 to 500kb and it won't let me submit them. I've even tried to go as low as where it would still retain quality at 375kb but it says it's too big to upload.
None of my pics I've submitted can be clicked on for a bigger version.
No, freaking, way. I save my pictures at all the time at sizes up to 800x600 and they hardly peak over 100kb (JPEG), let alone over 300. Exactly what program do you save your images with again?

Then you aren't using good enough compression. You shoud never need that kind of size.
There is a new submission system under development tho that will be much less restrictive.
gurantee you you'll see about three comments on the Inu pic in an average of at least 20-30 views while the OC art gets one in two days worth of viewing
If you don't like, bring "better" people into the community. Right now its mostly fangirls, but if people like you work to change that it can be changed. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

My pet peeves:
1) Immature mods who think they have to cuss every other word to get their point out. Life can be frustrating but no need to cuss so much. No I'm not the kind of person to die at the thought of a cuss word (because I'm a senior and I hear cussing a lot), but I seriously think cussing is a sign of immaturity. I suggest mods follow Cstdenis's example since he seems to be the only one that can make a point or tell you something without cussing like a sailor. Besides aren't you trying to attract people to the site. Yelling and cussing and being so freakin condesending to users doesn't really make users want to continue to be here. If someone asks a dumb or noobish question, don't act negativly towards them. Be respectful and answer their question.
---As for the users on FAC, if something about FAC bothers you, please make a mature suggestion with a logical explaination. And make sure to appricate the people who keep this site going. Also, keep the unessessary cussing out. It just makes people sound so immature.
2) I'm not trying to be mean, but i am also tired of really bad drawings from fangirls that are pics of inu yasha. It's not inspiring to me, and makes me want to scream, "There are other anime series that are just as good or better than inu yasha!" But I will go on my deviantart site and promote FAC to get some better artists on here.
3) This isn't really a pet peeve, but even tho DA doesn't give users much time to view new work on the home page, people still end up getting a fair amount of comments on their work because DA has options like WATCHING and FAVORITING and THUMBNAIL SHARE FORUMS. |
