Wow. Watched it a couple weeks/months ago. Found it interesting.
The real question is, who do you think was on there to fill space? There were some bands that hardly qualify as hard rock, but still got on for being good bands (The Kinks, for example, were more like the Beatles than hard rock) _________________

The only good thing about that list is the top ten. Other than that it's crap. Foreigner and Boston shouldn't be on there just 'cause I don't like them.
After the top ten it's stupid "well, who's the best artist of hard rock?" Come on, Korn over the Rolling Stones? I agree that the Stones aren't necessarily the most representative of hard rock, but neither are the Kinks.
Nirvana should be lower, Alice Cooper higher, Def Leppard lower, Korn lower, New York Dolls higher, Foo Fighers lower, Green Day lower... Meatloaf, RATT, Foreigner, Boston not on there at all.
How RATT got 79 is still a mystery. Did Stephen Pearcy fill out ten ballots. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

More or less, good enough for me. Greenday and Korn shouldn't have been on there at all though. _________________ Wyat Fucking Earp! |

For that list to work, you would have to loosen the idea of what is "hard rock" quite a bit.
Pink Floyd? The Doors? HOW in the hell is that hard rock? No question that it's quality music, but that's for chilling out, not for headbanging. _________________ |

Well the problem with that particular list in that respect is they sent out ballots to tons of different musicians and had them write down their personal list, not like a voting from a list of options. So you get a lot of different definitions of what they consider hard rock.
Then again, VH1 tends to bend definitions in their lists quite a bit. Like putting KISS in the hairband list as a joke (haha, men with big hair and makeup, we have to include them) or some questionably "metal" people in the most metal moments list.

Why be proud? It's just a bunch of people like Ozzy and Rob Halford writing down their favorite bands, doesn't mean much. No one sat down and evaluated them.
And don't be too proud, Nirvana kicked their ass. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

But if they did a cover, that means they like/respect Pink Floyd and would expect them to be higher on the list. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

1. Thread necro is bad, mmkay? (unless they recently reaired this, but even then...)
2. Including Korn...with the likes of Sabbath and AC/DC...is (aside from hilarious) really really lame.
3. This countdown still sucks. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
