Not as good as the FF series though
Probably beacause KH was a piss water version of an FF game, or mabye Square Enix was just being lazy and thought 'HEY! WE CANT THINK OF ANYTHING NOVEL! Lets just throw some random characters from Final Fantasy in the game, and, what the hell, lets get MICKEY MOUSE in there for fun! the kids will love it, and we'll make MILLIONS!'

Sheesh... free your minds, people. :P
Kingdom Hearts was certainly unusual. It was an original story based upon a mixture of Disney and Squaresoft characters.
On the plus side, Kingdom Hearts had an excellent, virtually unmatched real-time RPG battle system featuring combos, skills, and magic. The immersion in battle is further increased by the fact that your enemies don't bleed little white numerals when you slash them to pieces.
If there's one problem I'll name now, it's the common problem of virtually every RPG out there: It starts out SLOW. Five minutes won't even get you past the opening tutorials, much less the opening sequence on Destiny Islands. It is a calm and peaceful opening unlike, say, the first reactor level in Final Fantasy 7.
If you never made it to Traverse Town, much less defeated the boss of Traverse Town, then you haven't truly played Kingdom Hearts.
Wait until you have to fight Squall (Leon).
And Cloud.
And (if you choose) Sephiroth. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I liked KIngdom hearts. I can't wait for the 2nd one to come out. ^_^ Some people might not enjoy it as much because it kinda seems like a little kid game...until you start to meet some of the ungodly hard bosses. *Cough* Ice Titan *cough* All in all I thought it was really fun.
....But hey..that's just what I think.
Isn't there already like a million KH threads? Oh well. _________________ I have magical female powers

I was wondering where all the KH fankiddies went. XD
Not as good as the FF series though..........
And that says a lot, considering how much the FF series is really sucking, when you look at other RPGs out on the market...
I've never played KH, although most people tell me I should. I'm a fan of action-RPGs, so I'm sure to have a good look one day, but I'm not interested right now. Caught up in SRPGs. XD
I don't mind softer storylines like what KH's is cropping up to be (I mean, I played through Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, I can sit through anything...), so that's not going to be a problem. Still not quite sure what it's about, or even who the characters are. XD Noticed that Riku and Sora seem to be a rather popular pairing, though. -_o;
...Haha, Strata, you think that's slow? Five minutes? You're kidding, right? But in case you're not, don't ever play the .hack games. The tutorial in the first game... Well, 20 minutes won't get you anywhere near past the opening tutorial dungeon. Hehe. I sat throught "Rhapsody: A musical adventure" too. That was a hell of a RPG Yeah. *Sings* Cornet is my name and I'm a puppeteer too!" I wonder how many people turned off their console after hearing that lyric.
The music in KH wasn't that bad. It was more or less just remixe type things of every Disney song. And who doesn't like DIsney songs? That song "HIkari" or what ever the fruit it was called by Utada was pretty damn catchy if you ask me.
Anyone have any beefs with the music in KH? _________________ I have magical female powers

Hah. I left it in Japanese. Just so I don't have to sit through mediocre lyrics... which I ended up having to do anyway, but oh well. X3
"Hikari" was one of the first Jpop songs I ever listened to. I still like it a bit. The English version's okay, too, but I prefer the Japanese one. XD _________________

Yeah the Japanses version of "Simple and clean" (AKA Hikari) Was alot better. It actually went hand and hand with the plot of the gaem. Simple and clean was about some chick wanting to get laid....or something. _________________ I have magical female powers

God I miss the sandbox.
Fact is, KH is waaaay overrated. Everyone went on about the second one like it was the best thing that was ever going to come out. I played, played through it in fact. It was ok. Not at all great, but not bad. Personally, I'd take God of War anyday, though. _________________

RPGs are probably the only games I really love, although I play other types, RPGs are by far my favourite. I liked KH, played it a lot actually. Quite a short and easy game, especially when you got used to the combos and skills. Magic was pretty shit by the end of the game, cept for the Curaga spell.
I am not on the edge of my seat waiting for KH 2 but I will buy it. _________________ |
