I'll probably see it when it eventually comes out on video and I can rent it for free from the college library. Don't have the money right now, and it doesn't look nearly as interesting as Nightmare Before Christmas. The character design is rather boring and looks like 3D Disney, as does the storyline. Like Burton took one of Disney's old princess movies, added a dash of Hot Topic marketing potential, and voila.
But if making horror cute is what he's into now, all the power to him. May the angsty teenagers eat it up like never before. Not that he can't make horror fun, Beetlejuice was definitely fun, but not in the cutesy way Corpse Bride looks to be (and is, judging from early reviews). _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Seems to me, like it is going to be an overly commercialized, hot topic-esque film.
Might see it eventualy, buuuut almost certainly not. _________________

There's a free showing of it on campus tomorrow. I can't say no to something like that, can I? |

I'll rent it when it comes out on video. I'm poor and don't have the time to do anything other than school. Who the hell gives three day tests, anyway?! |

i also liked the nightmare before christmas before it was popular i drove my mother into the ground watching it. I love the santa hat part. @-@; This is not santa he has a red hat!
Anyway, I'd like to go see it, not because it's all "popular" but because it looked kind of funny, but i have been fooled before (aka, The Pacifier).

It looks awesome. I too, was a Nightmare Before Christmas fan. Too bad the nearest movie theatre is an hour and a half away, and even then it only shows one movie at a time. _________________ |

My boyfriend says he's gonna take me to see it. YA! I can't wait! I've been looking foreward to this movie for months. I'm curious how the stop-motion animation progress has improved since Nightmare.(not that the animation in Nightmare was bad, it just could be improved upon)
Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors and Danny Elfman is one of my favorite composers. Yup. I'm pretty dang happy. _________________ I have magical female powers

You can tell by the trailers that it's much more smooth, but I don't think that's directly a result of stop motion itself being better. There's only so many frames you can physically put in a single motion, it's mostly a result of better cameras and digital editing tools. It's not CGI, but it's smoothed out in editing as opposed to if you went through a flip book.
If you want all the little details of how they filmed it:

Heh, any Burton-Depp-Elfman combination will surely get my attention. I'm gonna watch it as soon as it comes out. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. Hehehe. You people should see it - it's cute. Utterly predictable, yet somewhat amusing. The songs can't hold up to Nightmare Before Christmas though.
I despair at the thought of all the preteens getting their grubby little hands on this movie. >_< |

Better they rape and destroy a mediocre movie than something that's good to begin with.
Of course, they'll be proclaiming their undying love for it for the next year, and the flood of fanart is due to hit all major art sites in...oh...12 hours, but other than that... _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
