QUOTE (Fallen) |
As far as still being current goes, many kids claim to love Nirvana without even really understanding the lyrics. They just drool over how Kurt was "so deep" and "really speaks to me", but if asked to explain any of the songs, they couldn't go beyond a general explanation of what the song's about. The subject matter, though, is still current. Most teens don't want to go out and be anarchists or party all the time or wear glitter. They still want to complain about how much life sucks, and sit in the dark writing crappy poetry. So Kurt's writing still appeals to them, prompting the mindless fandom of "omg nirvana is the best ever!!!!".

To add to my list:
Alice Cooper
AC/DC
Styx
(some) Metallica _________________
b/c he makes some of the best rock song i've heard in a long time even if his band is just a little bit old
Aerosmith isn't that old. They like got their start in the mid seventies and kind of peaked up and down over the years. Thats what I really like about them. They like stood against the test of time that all rock bands have to face.
Its like fallen said, after a band reaches its peak, they end up going down and making albums that aren't as good as previous ones and then the band is usually forgotten about or breaks up. Aerosmith somehow manages to come back even after a sucky album and impress a whole new generation of fans. Like me for example. I didn't start getting into Aerosmith until like the mid nineties and I heard some of their songs from the eighties such as Cryin' and Crazy and I totally fell in love with them after that. Then Just Push Play came out like sometime after 2000 and I was just so happy that they came back strong. Sure they changed their sound a bit again but sometimes a band has to do that to stay updated and fresh. I happen to like Jaded and Just Push Play very much. Girls of the Summer was pretty fuckin' corny but I'll let Steve slide with that one.
But yeah, Aerosmith. Best fuckin' band ever. Well in my opinion anyway. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Slipknot's mix of grinding, post-Korn alternative metal, Marilyn Manson-esque neo-shock rock, and rap-metal
Yup, they f**king suck. But I took their mask idea *points to screen name* Only my mask is medal. That's more or less, metal. _________________ Wyat Fucking Earp! |

Music like Slipknot gives me headaches.
I'm more indie. The Arcade Fire. _________________ |
