My plan for September is the following:

-Find time to draw pictures, don't procrasitinate on homework. . . . .

-Don't waste paper on a project that never gets finished.

-Use a lot of marker-pencil crayon combination, the last picture was gold. ^_^

-Produce at least 3 more pictures by the end of this month.

Do you have any goals for this months? such as, "try and draw a picture without so much erasing?" Wink post them here. Smile

... How about "start planning out my portfolio"? ...Which I'd like to do, but I'm too busy to actually act on any plans I might make. >_<
3. Find out just what a portfolio is
A portfolio is basically a selection of work you've done centered around a theme, and shows that you've explored different types of media and subjects/genres (like landscape, fashion, figure study...), and that you reflect on your work, etc... really useful (actually, mandatory) if you're planning on going into art after high school. Art collages and stuff. And it's good to have, even if you don't plan on going into visual arts.
6. Get Sakura inking pens!!!
Sakura pens =

You don't need to get "Sakura" pens, per se, they're just another ink pigmented liners, there's the Steadtler kind which is bit cheaper (German-made) and there's Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pen which is even cheaper (again, German).

I somehow managed to use all three kinds, there's really no difference, except Steadtler and Sakura offers more pen width, but Faber Castell comes with Sable colored-ink which is indespensable for watercolor

so yeah, most art stores have them. about 3 dollars for each, I think.

Doesn't have to have a theme. Any collection of your work in one place can be a portfolio. My college entrance portfolio was the biggest random group of crap (from photography to raku fired pottery), and that's usually what colleges want to see. A theme in that case limits you and doesn't show them you're willing to try new things and have experience in more than one area. A few of your strength or a particular series is good, but an entirely themed one would hurt. (not counting the AP test, which I believe requires a theme)

Job portfolio is a whole other issue and should be very focused to whatever job you're trying to get, but that's just a specific kind n' not what most are.

Yeah, your FAC gallery can be a portfolio. Any collection of your work in one place.

Alright. I was just using the definition my art teacher gave us. But she's a dumb cow anyway, it's not worth listening to her...

In the context of art classes it usually does have a theme 'cause they're doing it for the AP exam. And in that case, it's more of a...demonstrative portfolio of your thought processes as well as technical skill.

But like on a website portfolio (that most employers prefer these days), it can be anything and everything, as long as it's easy to find each kind of art.

My portfolio was ugly. Sad I think I got rid of the slides.

Do something that isn't a portrait, or at least isn't a portrait of Joan Baez.

For October:

Don't buy any more art materials <_<

For the love of fajebus, complete at least three colored picture a month!

More WIP whor'ng

Get progressively better, if a techinque works, use it, don't explore more until you mastered the techinque.
