Seriously, banning them would represent a major shift in FAC policies and require a helluva lot more work than you'd think.
OH wait. And those freaking "furries"...when people draw like a person in a wolf costume
I've seen that done well... (Second entry down. Don't let him know I whored out his LJ. XD And the last entry is an MSPaint one, too, I think.)
As long as it's a 'furry' that doesn't resemble anime, I'm overall okay with it, because then it's likely that the artist's style more than makes up for it. :3
I'm usually okay with anime art because it has good points, like how backgrounds (along with the rest of it) are usually extremely detailed, and the better stuff looks quite excellent, but...
I don't think my eyes can take another raping from the poorly done "anime" stuff that's on FAC. I'll admit there's good stuff out there, but a great deal of it is stuff that you guys have already mentioned: the "goth" stuff, "furries", and then there's the stuff that looks like it came out of a badger's colon... :s _________________

Never heard that one before. XD Badger's colon..I feel bad for that poor badger. I weep for its abused organs.
Please excuse my dear aunt sally. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. Our sixth grade teacher beat that into our brains till they ached. @_@ |

I HATE the 'anime' art done by like, fifteen year olds and it looks like it was done by a Dyslexic eight year old who loves Teen Titans.
Seriously, I told this one girl on a forum that she made the eyes too big and un-original, along with some other critique on how to make her drawings look less like an orange with a triangle coming out for a dress.
She bitched and moaned about how she is talented and 'makes the eyes look more like a cat's'
Sorry sweety, thats not adding your own spice to the drawing.
Dont get me started on Kratosgirl, she draws s**t on paint and gets..what..42 comments about 'HOW KAWAII!!!' it is?

Kratosgirl? I must see this person. Sounds very amusing.
Maybe I can offer... critique... >>
EDIT: Nevermind, found her. D: Wish I didn't. *sigh* She's even raped MY fandom. >< I hate the artists in my main fandom. I really, really do.
EDIT AGAIN:
I just remembered another thing I hate: Traditional art that's been photoshopped beyond recognition. LOL LOOK!!!1 I USED A FILTER ON MAH CRAPPY SKETCH SND NOW IT LOOK KEWLIE!!! D:
Some people don't deserve to have Photoshop. They really don't. You have a 500 dollar (or whatever it costs, I can't quite remember) program and you're using it to change the contrast and use the Bas Relief filter on your crappy anime doodle that is an insult to the anime style. YOU DO NOT DESERVE THIS PROGRAM. _________________ FAC |
Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.
You think that's complicated, wait 'till you see the order-of-operations for programming languages... which is kinda like:
1 - Parentheses
2 - Pointer/address operations
3 - Variables and memory locations
4 - Unary minus (negation)
6 - Function calls
7 - Exponentiation
8 - Multiplication, division, modulus
9 - Addition, subtraction
11 - Bit-shifts and rotations
10 - Comparison (equal, not equal, greater/less than)
11 - Bitwise NOT
12 - Bitwise AND
13 - Bitwise OR, XOR

I hear ya. I saw a photoshopped version of a scanned pic just today, it looked like a poorly-exposed (though sharply focused) digital camera pic ... too dark. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

No one ever dares to rape my fandom, Blade of the immortal... Mushi-shi, Yoshitoshi ABe... all mature stuff, so I'm not that bothered.
and yes, putting pointless things in the beginning of your picture's name to make it the first picture shown on the list is quite stupid. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

We're still trying to figure out ways to prevent that (pics are not supposed to be approved without a readable title). Maybe what we need is a moderating panel with that kind of power....

On photoshop....
I use a digital camera for some of my larger works, and I use photoshop to tweak the exposure, but nothing too extreme.
I do agree, there are some people that don't deserve such a high end product.. saddly enough, I know some in real life.
and have you guys ever met those types of artists in real life?
They're ego is actualy bigger in person. I deal with many of them throughout the day... and I have to bite my tounge really hard to keep myself from ripping into them.

One of my friends is like that. She has a fetish for the "lens flare" effect, and I want to smack her. =( _________________ FAC |

Haha, yes. Part of the "poorly done digital category". Lens flare does not look like shiny metal, a magical orb, or make your sun anymore believable. It just looks like an ugly, incorrect lens flare. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Yaoi/yuri or hentai. Come on people, what in the name of Davy is that all about!? I would feel no pride or dignity drawing that. I'd creep myself out really. Especially with characters from T.V. shows and whatnot. Maybe in your demented fantasies people, but I think it's time to wake up. Blech.
Also, people that rate their art G or PG and when you see the thumbnail it is obviously NOT rated G (if ya know what I mean). Just bugs me.
People that draw really cheap, effortless art (Ex. Paint stick figures) and try to make it into a hilarious comic. I see no humor in your craptastic art. |

Not this arguement again...
There are gay people in this world, and it's become incresingly politicaly correct to the point where it's incorect to be annoyed by them. Some people enjoy yaoi and yuri just as much as someone else would enjoy straight stuff.
If you don't like it, don't look at it... That's all I gotta say. |

Agreed
You don't like it because they are not artistic, but because of your preferences, this arguement happened 5 pages ago. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Unless they're referring to yaoi/yuri in the traditional sense- i.e hardcore pr0n.
But anyway, I like porn. =( I do hate it when people rate their images wrong. Alternately, I hate it when people rate artistic nudes or "a little bit of skin showing" as NC-17. _________________ FAC |

or you can take the haha21 route and rate a full blown nudity as G.
either way, it hurts. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |
There are gay people in this world, and it's become incresingly politicaly correct to the point where it's incorect to be annoyed by them.
While it's true that it's more and more acceptable for gay characters in the mainstream, it's become a sickening fad. 14-year-old girls drawing nothing but cute little pretty boys hugging and playing grab ass. It's not that they have any more acceptance or appreciation for homosexuality than anyone else, they're obsessed with this still somewhat "naughty" trend. Like there won't be any serious consequences for drawing gay characters anymore, but there's still plenty of people against it, so you get the "rebel" factor going. And that's annoying. It's just as annoying as people whose favorite shows are Will and Grace, Queer Eye, Queer As Folk, Boy Meets Boy, and the various other mainstream gay programs that have gained acceptance for no other reason than there's gay people in them.
It's exactly that fascination that makes me greatly dislike yaoi, almost all of it. Because the focus is always "look, they're gay! I drew gay characters! Hurry, look, two boys kissing!!!!!". Wtf? People who are "open" and "accepting" of the gay lifestyle don't draw such extreme attention to it because it's no big deal. If a person has a gallery with 68 similar drawings of various same gender couples, that's not just "being open minded". That's jumping on the bandwagon of more or less exploiting homosexuality for your own entertainment. Draw a straight couple and the point is "nice pose, good coloring, etc.", but in yaoi, "they're gay! teehee!".
(of course, shows like Will and Grace and Queer Eye certainly don't help, and in some ways started, the stereotype loving mass trend, but at least they have a bit more substance than "look at the gay guys") _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. I try to gauge. If it shows a little then it's pg-13 but if it's not too bad, then i won't worry about. Most of my characters are clothed. For those pictures that aren't i make sure to rate NC-17. Just for the fact that people like to randomly click links and ignore the rating.
:/ People are stupid sometime.
Flamers. Now i have just gotten my first flame, and i bitched the dude out. It was funny too. xD. I sent a moderator who has power (i think?) on the main site to it. :/ _________________
