This idea won't be used for a while, but how about separating the two? into entire "Anime" section and "Manga" section? pros...

-People, like me, enjoy one thing but not the other, last time I watched anime was about a year ago.

-We can spread out the 5 pinned topics to make the A/M section less cluttered.

-People can expect more speciflc posts to their threads.

cons.

-arranging hundreds of threads into manga and anime is hell. (hey, I'll do it)

-A/M section don't get that many posts anyway.

-it's just more work.

Cons:

-- Kids don't know the difference and use the terms interchangeably. Threads would have to be continually moved.

-- In the case of things where there is both, good luck sorting that into one or the other, especially with younger kids.

Granted you can argue that it's the same as starting a thread in Books or Movies depending on which you want to talk about, but that tends to be a bit more clear cut than the difference between anime and manga (especially given the fact the two are so similar anyway, one just moves and talks).

Just seems like a lot of work for not that much gain.

I think DG-sama wouldn't mind moderating both if they were split up because she complains that there isn't enough work for her to do there - most of the fantwats get cut off in the Sandbox before they get anywhere near A/M. XD

I like the idea, but I think fallen's right. There'd be too much confusion from the kiddos who don't know the difference.

Also, it would be a pain deciding which one you want to do. Like, say I want to make a topic about... Tactics, just out of randomness here. Tactics has both an anime and a manga, so where would I put it? I'd probably confuse myself. XD

Then again, some anime/manga have very different storylines. Like FMA.

I don't really think we need two diiferent sections right now personally :/ If there were like three times as many topics on average per day then yeah maybe, but Anime/Manga is not the most heavily trafficed section of the site.

Most (almost all) anime is based off manga (and most of the rest off a game), and they *usually* follow more or less the same plot.

Anime is TV, and manga is a comic, right?

Wait, never mind. The question has already been answered in an earlier post. <_< Can't believe I missed that!
