Not a fan of Stop-motion animation are we? I forgot to say Nightmare before christmas as my opinion of the best animated film. That movie hit so many milestones in animation it's not funny. Also Alice in Wonderland. It didn't get translated from book to movie very well, but it was pretty!! _________________ I have magical female powers

There are many different ways to judge the "best" animated film.
But for me, based on pure enjoyment, I'd have to say Shrek 2. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

'Noise men'? Anime? Are you, by any chance, talking about 'Noiseman Sound Insect'? How much of a clip did you see? The movie is only about fifteen minutes long. The first time I saw it, the film melted my brain, and now that I've seen it a few more times, it makes a little more sense. Involves kids riding around on flying vacuum cleaners, ghosts, and a great big dancing insect thing. Sheer. Insanity.
I love it.
Animation is done by Studio 4C. They've also done some other stuff. Actually, they are working on Mahou Shoujoutai Alice, a full-length anime series (with 12-minute episodes), and it is beyond awesome. The animation style is delightfully unique.
If you want a copy of Noiseman Sound Insect, you can remind me again in the fall - I've got a copy somewhere in summer storage.
Favorite anime: Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro)
Favorite non-anime: Finding Nemo (I love fish *_*) |

I really enjoyed the work that went into animating The Incredibles. Check out the behind the scenes creation of the movie (on the DVD) if you ever have the chance. _________________ |

My personal fave has always been The Lion King mostly because I do think it is one of the best animated films ever.
All the work that went behind the artwork and concept art alone is enough to impress even the best CGI animators. The artwork is beatiful and it created a style thats impersonated by millions of artists today. Its also a pioneer movie in terms of using animals as human-esque characters. The artists for that movie had to figure out new ways to show emotions and expressions without hands to work with and that turned out to be very difficult because just our hands alone can express so much. But TLK artists pulled if off by using eye expressions and paw movements in such a way that was subtle and yet could set the mood for the entire scene without a need for words.
The plot of TLK is something that I've always found fascinating even as a kid and now that I'm older, it still interests me..probably even moreso than I was a kid because now I understand certain symbols and meanings of quotes in the movie that I didn't catch when I was 7. The whole movie is a spin-off of Shakespear's Hamlet, not entirely accurate but I don't think it was meant to be like fully based on Hamlet. The general plot is very similar to the English play of course but Disney added in some scenes and made it more kid friendly but not so much that adults wouldn't be able to enjoy this movie either. I think its one of the very few Disney movies that was both original and absolutely wonderful. I mean, come on! Hamlet in Africa...how can anyone think of something like that let alone pull it off?
TLK music is amazing too. Some of the best Disney songs are on that one movie. I think even two of them are still played on the radio today (Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight) so thats impressive. All the songs are memorable and carried on the plot of the story and made it more exciting and more enjoyable to audiences. Musice that keeps a plot going is something thats died out in animated movies today and I think that is tragic. :(
So yeah, The Lion King hands down for me. Its both my favorite animated movie and my favorite movie in like history of the entire world. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Beauty and the Beasr is an incredible animated film. The plot is very sohisticatedm and the animation is beautiful. This film was not made for kids- it is better understood at an older age. _________________ |
