 Just curious to see why some people comment on other peoples drawings/stories.Here are some reasons I think people comment..
1.Because you saw this great drawing and want to put your input in.
2.To be nice
3.Heard from somewhere else about it.
4.You know this person.
5.and....forced to comment..
So yea tell me why you comment.

Hmm...
1 - Because I liked the picture
2 - To give suggestions for if they redo it sometime
And a distant #3, I guess there's also the desire to be noticed _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

But I wonder why rare comments that tell you to improve show up.......even when the pic in question is crappy......there are rare comments that tell you how to improve |

I see your point but wouldnt it be part of the commenting system to actually comment? I mean it aint against the rulees to give a bad comment as long as you dont completely go crazy on it... |

Hm....not a lot of people on the site take it very well.
You may not see that many because many users delete them (I know about half my comments have been deleted by these denial-ridden users)
What can ya do? *shrugs*
But I usually comment either to:
1) Show how much I like the picture
2) Try to help them improve their skills by informing what looks odd, etc
3) To be nice (especially to the little kids)
4) Introduce my self to new people (aka break the ice)
5) Warn people (if they're breaking the rules, etc T.T Raymei's on the job 24/7)
or 6) Thank someone (if they reviewed my pictures for example)
I'm sure there's more reasons, those are some.
But if I'm in a hurry or I don't like the person, I won't comment at all. if the person was a jerk to me for, oh say, trying to help them/give them advice, I don't see how flaming will be worse than NOT commenting at all. That way they really won't get better (if they won't listen, then I won't talk)
6) Thank someone (if they reviewed my pictures for example)
Sometimes I do that too, when they comment on one of mine I look them up and see if any of the thumbnails strikes my fancy. I don't specifically say "thank you for reviewing my image the other day", 'cuz then I feel as if I'm promoting myself, and I don't like doing that. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I comment to show what i specifically liked about it. Many people say "that's so kawaii" or "I lover it *saves to faves*" I usually comment to say "nice shading" or "nice angle" these comments make more sense to me and mean more to me when i get comments like that. I also try to give people comments when they comment on me. |

Most of the reasons I comment have already been listed, but I will also comment because:
1) It's an awesome pic but not that many people have commented
2) If I want to tell the artist that I've added them/ their pic to my favorites list.
3) If the subject matter is interesting. There could be this blow-your-mind away picture of, say, Sonic the Hedgehog but I won't comment because I don't care about Sonic.

I must confess, that's one reason why I usually don't comment on much fanart.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

most of the reasons I comment on pics have been mentioned above.
1) a picture thats in my mind excellent
2) a picture by a friend (may give cc if I know it wont be taken as a flame
3) a picture worthwhile that has not been commented on
4) communication (good way to let other artists know your here)
I comment on profiles for communication, thank you notes, or art help (although again I would have to have a dialog with the artist or they think Im flaming them) and if that happens I usually dont write again...some artists here have gaurd dogs and as soon as you attempt to help they come at you like rabid wolves. _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. If it doesn't have a single comment, it's anything more than a sketch, and if I can relate to it, I'm commenting on it. _________________ |
