I f**king LOVE this game. Let's not even mention how different and unique it is, or how absolutely beautiful the landscape is, or how fun it is to ride your mighty steed, Agro, across this breathtakingly beautiful landscape that goes on forever without the need to load a new area. No, all of that pails compared to actually facing a colossus.
Each one of the monstrous creatures is like a level all unto itself. First off, you have to figure out how to mount the beast. This can be anything from shooting out its legs so that it will fall to its knees to a perfectly timed leap of faith. Once you are on, you are now climbing across an ever changing landscape of hair and muscles. One minute you are standing on level surface, the next minute the creature has bent over or is trying to shake you off and you are hanging on for dear life as the entire world lurches. Loose your grip and you go plummeting hundreds of feet into solid earth. Each colossus is vastly different and offers its own unique challenges. My favorite so far is the gigantean bird that starts doing barrel rolls mid flight as you desperately hang to feathers, trying to climb your way to its head while fighting both gravity and wind resistance.
The only drawback is a camera that can be awkward at times, and my roommate had difficulties steering the horse (I have had no problem with that and have come to the conclusion that I am simply better than him at all things.)
Sonys devilish plot to get me to play the PS2 has worked with flawless success. I highly suggest this game to EVERYONE.

The draw distance in that game is amazing. You can literally see for miles in all directions, and reach almost every landmark you can see in the distance. _________________

I honestly didn't think anybody else on this board would ever play the game. Yeah it's probly one of the sweetest games I've ever played. But that draw distance suffers, from graphic stutters... and poor framerate (damn PS2). Sure it gives me a reason to play my PS2 again... but man the game would be so much more lush on the xbox. Anyway that aside, the bird is the sweeeeeetest boss. But there are other sweet ones in there. They start to get more fierce. And the final boss will take you hours. And there's extra goodness after that! And plenty of replay, with time attack mode, hard mode...etc.
As for Agro... the physics on him are dead on. But I did change my camera controls, to inverted horizontally and vertically... and that makes a world of difference.
But the end wasn't half as gratifying as ICO's. But if you haven't made it there yet, I won't ruin it.
Sad part is this same crew will probly produce their next incredible game for the PS3... and I don't want a PS3!! |

What do you mean? Put a spoiler thingy down if you need to, I've already beat it.
I did like the ending, in a way. The conclusion of the game was awesome, but it like, never ended. When you think its over, it isn't. And then, when you think its over again, it isn't again ^_^ _________________

Hehe...yeah. So what is it? A prequel to ICO?
Oh one thing we both forgot to mention is the phenominal soundtrack. I gotta order that as soon as I find it available. Oh and I'm so in love with this game I'm brewing fan art of it now. And putting the smut aside. Which I gotta say, I'm pretty happy about. |

I'm about halfway through the game right now. I like the fluid animations of the character and his horse. Each of the collossi battles really draw you in and make you feel like your in the game. It's great. |

ICO is the game that was made by the same people...about 3 years prior to Shadow of the Colossus. If you liked Shadow of the Colussus... you really have to pick up Ico. You can probly find it for $20-$10. It's also very awesome. The artistic style is very similar, and so isn't the ingenuity. Seriously... go buy it this weekend. I highly doubt you'll be dissapointed. |

It's a really good game. If you like Shadow of the Colossus, you've gotta play this one. I beat it a while ago, but it's still damn fun. ^^ |

Ok, i did a little research about ICO, and I'm now convinced that Shadow is it's prequel. I gotta play this game now. _________________

Gah,I finally bought the game...Ico is not a better game,it is just as good because it's from the same makers.Funny, these games have soul and they really make me happy to play them because they are unique game experiences that don't need big budgets(Final Fantasy series) or powerful machines(X-box games like DOOM3 great graphics but gameplay is old,I'm not dissin xbox,I luv Panzer Dragoon Orta and Ninja Gaiden...) just plain ol' great imagination and it isn't even full price at 40 bucks.
*Looks at Ginormous waterfall near ruins at game..."So,Pretty!...WEEE!"falls off* |

I know, but I just cry when I think of what this game could have looked like on the XBox. _________________
