Well... this makes me almost speechless. Some of FAC arts look great (those shown there), but some other artworks show that some artists are trying to develope their skills. But they are critisizing them right away. If these people see these comments, then they might toss all their works away cause they are critisizing them so badly. Don't they realize that they shouldn't break their dreams like this? _________________ |

What you fail to understand, Elf..Is that most of the users being critisised need it, and if their dreams get broken? Tough. If you're willing to give up on something you love so easily, then you obviously didnt love it at all. _________________ |

I don't like how they're being so harsh about it. Some of the artists they are critisizing are most likely young and still developing skills. You think people just become amazing original artists overnight? No they don't. It takes practice and experience which some of the artists here lack. But they can't help that now. Noone can because experience takes time to acquire. And it is easy to want to give up on a dream when not only noone is supporting your or helping you out, but they also make fun of you for doing so. Some of these people are saying that these kids shouldn't have scanners in the first place. Thats really harsh. :(
Elf does have a point. Constructive critisism is okay but there's a fine line between that and harassing young artists.
I don't like this site at all. Two things I hate in this world: Pedos and people purposely hurt others. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

And banning page requests referred from the GAFF domain wouldn't work either, it would only let them know that we know they're talking about us. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Who cares. It's like those people who complain about the Maddox page.
When you put art on the internet, that's what you get. If it's not good enough to show, tough. If you really want cruel, try eatpoo. A forum full of (mostly) industry pros who will show no mercy and be complete assholes to anyone who isn't incredibly talented. But it works. Keeps the forum high quality and gives reality checks to the people with "best artist in my class" syndrome. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. You can if you want (I don't), but look through some of the most popular threads to get a feel for it. That's the mistake most new members make. They read the guidelines but don't look at other threads and compare themselves to that level.
Nivbed, Roundeye, Manco, Socar Myles, Brokencow, ladyexecutor, Lance, Riana-M, Randis, and RobG are good places to start. Actually you can find most of them in This Thread.
Some lower quality is also tolerated, of course, but if you browse the WIP forum you'll see pretty much everything except the best of the best gets a couple crits from people who have nothing better to do. And if it's really below standards...well...every asshole in the place will be brought out of the woodwork to comment on how horrible it is.
SIDENOTE: If you read something and it looks weird, it's probably due to the fact they use the profanity filter to change random words. "Sucks" is now replaced with "SHOWS A REALLY GREAT EFFORT", "tablet" with "penis", "filter" with "duck" or "kitten", and so on.
It's a good place to read if nothing else. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Really? Maybe they should use acronyms to filter out the swear words instead of random words. Like "Sorry Hon It's Thursday" _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

If they filtered out swear words, half the forum would be censored.

Actually I can block requests to pages based on referers. I dont want to---I'm not going to--but it is technicially possable. Anyway, it doesn't do much really.

Yeah, I said something to that effect in the next post. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yeah, but I mean in everything. The profanity filter is just there...because it's there. Eatpoo is in all ways a forum for adults, no room for young ones or beginners. Of course, extremely obscene stuff is placed in the Toilet, only viewable by 18+ (or those who claim to be 18 in their registration ), but that's just a legal issue.
Not that FAC caters to the extremely young, either, but more so than other forums. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Well, I'm not trying to suck up, but..I really love FAC, it's just some place I know I can come to every day and have fun. Forums like GAFF are good for awhile, but I'm really not bothered to post more than I need or get to know people.
But here, I know people, I actually have 'friends', people who like to read the stuff I post and think I'm a 'cool person'. It's really a place that I've grown to love, even If I mainly post in the random section, I love to give my insight on A&M and videogames, and people actually read what I say and take it seriously, even if I'm a total immature asshole in other sections.
FAC = Awesome on alot of levels.
GAFF = fun for guro links. _________________ |
