I'm gonna be drawing lot's of them this winter break and I don't know any programs...

I need to practise, but I need to be familiar with some of the programs first, does anybody know where I can download some? (for off-line usage)

They're really not programs...just online drawing applets. You can download the code for it yourself, but not a program (although I'm sure there's somewhat similar programs out there).

Why not just draw in them on the sites and not post them if you only want to practice?

Then I'd have to have internet all the time, and my internet is about as stable as Russian stockmarket. :(

EDIT: and I want to be able to save the picture instead of saving screens since I'm extremely bad at cropping.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oekaki

Oekaki is an online drawing applet. You can, technically, save the applet to disk along with the rest of the page, but the offline copy will still need to be viewed through your web-browser (Java applets aren't standalone executables).

Of course, the publish/uploading functionality of oekaki won't work on an offline copy. But the oekaki applets should have a save-to-disk command you can also use.

Luckily for you, Brian, you don't need internet just for viewing the page with the applet on it so long as you have the page saved to disk. :x

You still need to have the applet saved to disk as well, otherwise the offline copy of the page will either not be able to find it, or will try to fetch the applet from its (online) source URL.
