When the first to bands in your list are U2 and Greenday, I would not expect to see Billy Idol in there.

I can see him with U2, somewhat. Not with Green Day. Although the self important factor fits them both and doesn't fit Billy.

Billy's solo stuff was all through the 80s (and a bit in the 90s, but those two weren't very popular).
