So many people seem to insist that the two are different though. I don't know why.
There is a difference. Anime is animated pictures and manga is static pictures.
"But wait, there's more!"
Manga is generally more detailed than anime because it is static. Each and every panel of a manga is a single composition by the artist - sort of a work of art unto itself. By contrast, since an anime scene is moving, it would take far too much work to redraw an entire scene for each of the 24 frames per every second, so the artists have to take shortcuts. They draw each individual character on a separate sheet ("cel"), and then the desired cels for a scene are layered and positioned onto each other to create one frame of animation (think Colorforms).
A single second of anime may easily require more total individual character drawings/cels than a single page of manga, and as the anime grows in length, the studio builds up a library of character pose sheets which the animation team can assemble (almost) at will to create a given frame of animation.
For further information about the tricks that anime studios use to keep their workload practical, check this out:

That's like saying, "I didn't have time, so instead of manga style, I used anime style." That would be wrong. It's better to say "I made it less detailed so the background wouldn't clash with the object in focus", or "I drew Naruto in manga style instead of anime one." Anime and manga both refer to a grand scheme of styles, and only time it's really distinguishable is when you're referring to a series that has both forms of. Or if you want to just say that it's less detailed/block color, it's easier to just say it just like that then say, "Oh, it's ANIME style". Since the sterotype isn't rigid. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Owhee! Stylezz!
I personally like the european styled Anime/Manga stuff more than the originals from Japan for example, specially the french types are really excting, they know exactly what they do..
I am totally in EC style love myself, I created my own style out of EC and still pick various stuff out of it. The full name is simply and means "europan comic" who ever watched the animation movie "Valhalla" will get filled up with EC style! This movie got me into drawing at all...
If I find any better ref. for EC style I will post, this style should never die out...! _________________ - hmm... did someone say "MUFFIN"? - |

Hmm I usually have my own style. but I like to mimic others art or at least some part of it. I think learning a wide variety of styles makes a person versatile. Being able to change, alter, your style whenever you want is skillfull artist. So I don't put down to any particular style. Everything is art if you think about it. |

Pretty much anime with some slight alterations is what I do for art most of the time unless I'm doing a realistic pic. _________________ I'm a zombie. Yarg.

In a way, I'm pretty much a sponge for many styles. But my style really strongly adheres to the influence of good ol' Yoshitaka Amano.....well...in some form or other. :<
Or... I dunno, call mine a cross between Western and anime. *shrug* |

My style is a Freakish Combo of Realism Anime and American. If I try to draw american it usualy has an anime style to it. The realism part is for some of my machiens I draw. Like for example the Robots and Mechs I make are Mechanicly currect. You know If someone built it it would work _________________ |
