Iron Man tends to sound funny on acoustic. Too shallow and hard to get into it. Although the riff is incredibly easy.
Pretty much anything by Nirvana will do you good. The solos n' stuff not so much 'cause they don't sound the same without distortion and are hard to get a feel for, but all the verse stuff is incredibly simple and sounds just as good unplugged as it does on electric. Come As You Are was one of the first things I learned. All Apologies, Heart Shaped Box, Lithium, anything. Smells Like Teen Spirit, of course, but if I hear one more kid sloppily grin their way through that, I may have to kill them. It sounds stupid without distortion anyway, unless you're a good musician and can adapt it to acoustic as Kurt could but beginners can't.
White Stripes' music is pretty simple, but I've ignored them since the beginning and couldn't recommend anything specific. Just know a lot of people who have taught themselves with their songs.
Every Rose Has Its Thorn [Poison] is a pretty decent beginner acoustic song, even better that it's written for it. Just learn the chords or find a good tab of it and you're all set. Mostly just strumming chords. "Patience" [Guns N' Roses] isn't too hard either, depending on which part you play. It's technically written for 3 guitars, but you can pick which one or just learn the strumming chorus part.
The melody of "Hysteria" [Def Leppard] isn't too bad. Might be a bit confusing if you don't know the song really well already.
Just don't play Stairway to Heaven. Which isn't nearly as easy as it's been made out to be, so it's a bad choice anyway. Only person who should be playing it is Jimmy Page. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
