He's in lots of weird artsy movies. Man Who Fell To Earth. Gets all full frontal nekkid. He plays Andy Warhol in "Basquiat". Good stuff.

But by far he's best in Labyrinth. The fact their other two options they were considering were Sting and Michael Jackson...just thinking of them as Jareth makes me ill. And then I laugh at the thought of Michael Jackson having to seduce a young girl. Plus David wrote the songs, so they're Bowie Brilliant.

And on a similar note of the Labyrinth, Velvet Goldmine is brilliant in the same way. Bowie ain't in it, but it's about him. Based on the story of him and Iggy Pop, with some big artistic liberties taken to change the story...and make it more explicit than either of them ever directly admitted. Songs are fantastic, all modelled after if not directly covered from old 70s glam, and the whole movie has that glitter and feathers look of T.Rex and the New York Dolls. It's a bit strange, but the soundtrack and visuals are tops, and Placebo/Brian Molko perform NY Dolls' 20th Century Boy all tarted up like glam boys. Apparently only interesting if you either 1. know the story of Bowie/Iggy or 2. like glam rock, 'cause it's all about that scene. So everyone I know is love it or hate it. But I love it.

Phantom of the Opera sucks just 'cause I've always hated the play to begin with, so the movie was just worse. The only friends I have who liked it, only like it because they wanna jump the guy who played the phantom.

EDIT: Interesting, actually, that Ewan McGregor appears twice on my list. Very near the top for his performance as Curt Wild (the Iggy Pop character), but waaaay down at the bottom for the piece of garbage that is Moulin Rouge. Clearly this shows that he should always be the long haired drug addict and not the sappy loser.

My avatar proves this.

I feel David should dress like Jareth all the time. I don't care if it was fake hair, it was still pretty. And the shimmery eye makeup didn't hurt. He's got the attitude naturally, so he doesn't really need to act to be Jareth.

Although he did dress pretty close on the Reality tour. A purple velvet coat with gold trim and such.
