Really, I have never liked this system. And I gave it fair chance, too. PS1? Didn't appeal to me. Give me the N64 please. Hell, even the PS2 was only moderately better, in my eyes. I stuck to my computer games and the awesome retro power that was and still is the SNES. The PlayStation has always just felt inferior for some reason, like it was the consol I'd play if I had nothing else to do. That's why I had really looked forward to the XBox release, and it gave me a lot of what I was looking for in games. Not everything, I am superbly picky and almost NOTHING has ever lived up to my full expectations (I leave room for X-COM and any of the Donkey Kong Country games; these are still superior to anything on the market today).

I'm trying to keep an open mind toward PS3. I havent played it yet, and until I actually get that rather odd controller in my hands and have a go with it, I'm not going to say anything. But Mr. Gates has a pretty tempting system, and a 360 id on my list of definite must have's.

I just feel that a lot of the people who diss Microsoft and the XBox do so out of a "Bandwagon" mentality. They're brand loyalty is so fierce that they will dislike any newcomer, especially one from on "evil monopolistic empire" (which is, strangely, what Sony is as well). Some don't even try it, while others dont give it a fair chance, playing one game and throwing it off immediately based on that single experience. Still other refuse to like it, even if the secretly do. As if liking this "black sheep" system will in some way sully and tarnish their image in the Sony circles.

What I just want to know is: "What do you see in PlayStation?" What is it about this system that makes you guard it with such ferocity? Admitted, it can be fun, but it certainly doesn't deserve the praise you are heaping upon it.

Herd mentality can be a powerful thing. Have you stopped and analyzed just "why" you refuse to change?

I really don't like to judge the consoles (not that I'm saying you do, At least somebody can form an intelligent opinion without using the word 'cocksucker') for the consoles, but more for the games. I love my PS1, with a passion. It has the kinds of games I like, Klonoa, Legend of Mana, Crash Bandicoot, games I can really kill a day on. The PS2 didn't bring anything new or exciting to the table, I think. Just Sequels to starting to get old game titles and the like, I actually chose my Gamecube over the PS2, the price was better, and it had fun looking games..The PS2 had..what, sh*tty RPGs with ~*SOMEWHAT*~ decent visiuals? (Hi, FFX. Smile )

I didnt even BUY my PS2, my father got mine after my PS1 broke, and gave it to me for xmas..Last year's xmas. And, Aside from playing old PS1 games and the occasional Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, I could really live without it. Funnily enough, I owned Gamecube and xbox before the PS2, and the REALLY funny part is, I got more play in with my xbox* than my PS2. W00t! Also, Dreamcast > Everything.

on a somewhat related note:I'm not buying the new consoles till they get dirt cheap. :woot:

Ah, Videogames. :banghead:

*Still not an XBOX fangirl

I pick the best console. I love my N64 and would shot any one who tried to replace it with an PlayStation.... but then again I love my ps2 because of the good grahics and dvd player abilities and GTA 3!!! But the X-box is still my favorite because of the KOTOR serises.... I also have then on computer.

((Yes, I am a KOTOR freak and will be first in line to get KOTOR 3 if they ever get the Fu*k off there lazy A*ses and make it))

I typically don't buy consoles because of what they are, I buy them because of the games they have. Playstation, for example, had Final Fantasy. Chrono Cross. Angelique. Tales of Phantasia. Silent Hill. Etcetera.

Even now, I'm contemplating geting a GameCube just for Pokemon Stadium and Tales of Symphonia.

But I won't do that because there's other stuff I'm more interested in currently. And honestly, I don't want an XBox because there aren't any games I want to play on it. Specs don't matter. Hell, I'd go back and hit a NES game if it was interesting enough. I realize that the graphics on the XBox must be sex-incarnate, but that's typically not a driving force in my decision as to what consoles I want.

lol

I love the games

Call me steriotypical, but all my favortie games like Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts, ICO, Grandia (and grandia 2), .hack (all 4), Soul Caliber (1 and 2), And the FF series and many others are on the PS and PS2. The graphics are pretty good (don't care how much better X-box's is) and (it may just be me) but from my experience, all of the X-box games are pretty much fighting and mindless shooting, cept Fable <3 (but that might just be my experience with the console)

I love playstation. for some reason me and playstation just seem to like each other. but only the playstation 2 not the PS1 or all that other stuff. i was a nintendo nerd until that. Razz W00t!

I hate the Xbox. But I do like some of there games. (Halo 2 and Fable). I just hate the Xbox so much. I mean without the Xs its just B.O.!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

But for some reason, I really like the 360. Yes I know its an Xbox. But this feels different to me for some reason. And I want one really bad. So buy it for me. I'll never know why I feel this way about these systems. I just do.

Peace out my ninjas.

This is what I'm talking about. Why do you hate the Xbox? You say you do, yet you didn't give one definitive reason.

Also, did anyone see me mention graphical capabilities once during my entire post? So why do you keep bringing that fact up? Yes, Xbox is more powerful, but that isn't the reason I like it more (and for the record, my top 3 all time favorite games are not on the Xbox).

Don't get hung up on the horse power, that isn't why I see PS2 as inferior. It's because the majority of their games are generic photo copies of the games that came before it. Yes, they have some big hitters, but most of the stuff I like that is available for PS2 is also available for Xbox. Sony's game choices just don't interest me.

Also, I hate the PlayStation controller. I hate it. It cramps my hands and leaves them feeling sore. Whoever designed that controller should be shot in the mouth.

You hit the nail on the head there. Sony wasn't even trying with the playstation 2, It was more of a console to get the younger kids in the mix (Or the result of laziness, mabye both). Which it worked, didnt it? Good thing about it, though, is that it turned alot of younger kids onto games, and they were able to experience the value of blah blah polygons.

And the Gamecube didn't have a very big game library back then, and it's still pretty lacking in the RPG department, at least gamecube originals.. :\ so..

And didnt Playstation have DDR before anyone else? Ahh..DDR. Banghead W00t! Banghead W00t!

Obviously. Catering to people who want to play things they're used to; there's not much difference in the types of games. And a lot of them are mediocre (HAY, FINAL FANTASY!! W00t!).

But I've never played any games that were availiable on multiple platforms. Weird, I know. but those games looked boring to me in the first place anyway.

But the difference is, you're used to playing games (or at least hearing about them) that were intended for an english speaking audience, and those games will be imported just because they're probably going to be the type of game that's popular in NA and Europe. That's why a lot of them are carbon copies of the games that came before; the audience (probably around ages 12-18) they're intending to sell to wants that type of thing. Very boring for people who want to try something new, something that's "outside of the box".

So. Is it any wonder that I play imports? Probably not. But I'm willing to pay the high prices just to get games that I want to play. Again, it's not so much the console. It's the games. And the "library" of games I can choose from is vastly different from the ones you can choose from. So I guess that's why my experience with this console is different from yours. :x

I damn the ethnnocentricity of these forums. But, at least you're not saying all the games that have been imported are representative of the game library in Japan, like that other moron's been saying. 8D

I guess you were referring to me just then.

I savored the games that have variety and bring new things to the table. I'm not a big enough of a gaming fanatic to import games (I simply don't have the time and money), but I do like to keep up with as many different games as I can, even if I will never play them.

I'm too much of nit-pick with a stick up my ass to have any kind of brand loyalty. I loved KOTOR 1, f**king hated KOTOR 2. Even though I'm not a huge fan of Sony's system, but there are games on it that I will devote my life to for days on end. The 360 hasn't yet convinced me yet of it's worth, and I will stand here and tell you they couldn't have ended Halo 2 on a better note, no matter how much bitching I hear from you snobby elitist gamers who wouldn't know a good story if it humped your leg.

Anyways, I forgot what my point was, because I'm busy watching Sin City. Just take my words at face value right now.

I sure hope that's the general "you", 'cause I've never said anything about Halo. Ever. Be it a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe it's "she hangs out with Brad. Brad hates Halo and/or Xbox. Then she must hate it, too, by default." 8D

It's one of my personal rules to never make judgement on anything I haven't experienced for myself. That's why I don't keep up with most games on the internet. I don't need to hear about reviews. My experience will probably be different from that of the person reviewing, and I don't want a biased opinion of a game before I pick it up.
"What do you see in PlayStation?"
I 1st got my play station in 1999 or maybe 2000 lol I dont remember...but the point is I got it from my parents as a gift for lieaving the country (russia) with a whole heap of games...as I arrived into Australia the 1st thing I recived was an english PS lol from my aunty as a welcome present but yeah anyway. Before PS was invented I played the old nintendo, you remember those? Now how bad were they! I remember I loved mario and could finish the game in less then 7 mins at the age of 9! geez... now PS was finally a challenge! I mean now its nothing...now I have to struggle to remmeber were I put it! But then it was like I dunno revolutionary I guess.
PS2 is now appealing well was anyway not long ago because of its new graphics build in DVD and eye toys and stuff, people just when for it. I loved play station but then when I got good and could finish any game in a matter of hours, its not that intresting anymore. Now X-box offers us somethign more...expendable, we can really play any game and its different and we love it because its unique and because were basically sick of PS2.
So if you ask me, we may have once though that video games will last forever, but they will not unless they expand in its capasity. They will become more revolutionary weather we like it or not and before we hit 2007 there will be something more radical then x-box or PS3...were all just running in circles

ciao

I usually don't listen to reviews, unless it seems to unanimous. And even then, I have despised games that get a 10/10.

...

Games that get 10/10... Something I do when I'm really bored is I look up reviews for a game I've already played to see what others have said about them, and I've seen the most hilarious bullshit all over the place. Laughing Both positive and negative stuff. GameFAQs is a rather lot like FAC's mainsite. :/

I think the problem is... you're talking about games in the wrong forum. The folks on this board are from the "playstation generation".

I... am a Sega fan boy. Have been since the Genesis. And yeah, some new games can't have that same impact on me as the old school ones. But I understand there's a very huge list as to why we aren't getting the full effect from developers today, part of it is we may be out-growing games.

Anyway this is a post about why Sony is soo big. Well VR, it just has the popular name. That's the bottom line. The PS2 is a frankenstien. And it's true gems will never get noticed. I've encountered many sony fans that won't even play Shadow of the Colossus. They think it's stupid. But anyway, were am I going with this post?

As a big Xbox fan, I personally know that the Xbox wore the pants in the 4th gen. It had the stomping power. It had XBOX LIVE!!! Need I say more? C'mon VR, as an xbox gamer, you know this. So don't waste your time here. These folks can hate xbox all they want. I've decided to not give a damn.

I too have never liked Sony... and regret owning a PS2... aside from Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus (those were fantastic games).

I love Dreamcast.

No seriously, it's the first one I've ever gotten. I loved a lot of the games, like the Skies of Arcadia, and Grandia 1&2.

I also love famicon
