When my dad used to play Resident Evil, there was a guy who was standing in the water, and when my dad made one step, a shark jumped out of the water and ate the guy. I had nightmares for weeks.
Then there was this Super Mario game that my family rented for the SNES. I think it was called Mario's Missing, or something like that. Anyway, I was in the dunguen, or wherever those doors that took you to different places were, and there was this shadow that looked like a koopa (bowser-like) that was coming. I freaked out and quickly shut the game off.
Those boos from the Mario games (the old games) scare me too.
I was also afraid of the moon in Majora's Mask, especially when the time was running out.
The scarest games are the old Super Mario games. _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.
I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)
OC Quote: "No, he just keeps getting beaten in the head with his own stupidity."-Ray Eclrida |
The strategy game X-COM: anymission that took place at night just gave me the creeps because you couldn't see any of the enemies but you could still here them "go bump in the night". Also, most of the time when civilians got killed all you heard were screams in the darkness.
O yeah!
My Father played that all the time!
I pissed myself many a time watching that game!!!

Sanity's Requiem
Damn it Will, you made me rent the game!
I had nightmares for weeks on end. That games totally scares the hell out of me. The bizzare things that happen in, (and out) of the game.
You don't want to know what I mean by out of the game *huddles*
And the great fairies in Orcarina of Time, they freak me out too
But not as much as Sanity's Requiem. I swear, once I jumped up, screamed, and shut the game off. |

You have no idea what game we are talking about, do you? ^_^
There is absolutely no possibility of finding this game at Blockbuster, seeing as it takes place in the near future of 1999. :P
Ebay, yeah, I could look there, just hope there is something out there other than a DOS version. _________________

X-COM, right? I dunno about you, but my blockbuster has it. Also, I might have it buried in my attic. See, when kids don't want their games anymore, I usually buy it off them and rent them out to other people. I probably get more business that my blockbusters. |

The ghosts in Fatal Frame II creeped me out. They got me paranoid of the hallways in my own house.
Not to mention, when I left the game on for a few minutes in a supposedly safe save area of the game and went back, the whole game was silent and a creepy ghost girl in the game slowly walked toward the main character. |

Your Blockbuster carries DOS computer games that come on four 3 inch floppy discs? _________________

Back in the days of yore, many levels in Super Mario 3 scared me.
Such as the one in World 7 where you have to run across those chomping plants (I forget their name; not the Pirahna plants, the other ones which you can't kill) grabbing Star after Star just to stay alive....
The green Spiny Eggs also scared me, because up until then you had only encountered normal Spinies...
The giant fish in World 3's levels (the "sinking" level) was pretty scary... so too was Wendy Koopa's richochetting magic...
The maze of electric fish in World 7...
Roy and Ludvig in Worlds 5 and 7 were scary simply because of their ground-shaking weight....
And Bowser's World (World 8) felt worse than all of that combined. The map... the music... the giant tank on your path, which led to that level where you take on a whole army of cannon-shooting tanks...
Then there were the ships, where you had to face off against even more cannons and so on... the pits on the world map which dragged you down into their depths to fight enemies... the army of fast-flying aircraft, where you only have seconds at a time to react, or else fall into the bottomless void beneath them...
The first standard level, replete with Bullet Bill blasters, hills, pipes, and enemies... the second standard level, with the large chasms, huge hills, and angry sun from the Desert World... the truly maze-like fortress which took dozens of playthroughs (and lives) before we finally found the secret entrance to the boss's lair...
The final tank level, with even more cannons and Bullet Bills....
And then Bowser's castle itself. The laser-blasting statues at the entrance, the cavernous layout, the donut rings over lava pits, Bowser's fiery breath from afar, the 'fake' statues (which, because they didn't shoot laserbeams like the rest, only freaked you out even MORE), only one powerup in the entire level, no checkpoints (being a fortress and whatnot)...
The battle against Bowser himself was a relief after all that. I liked the fact that you could jump on his head without getting hurt (though it didn't do any damage), but beating him took awhile.
Then, on subsequent play-throughs, I succeeded at playing through the level with the Hammer Suit (and Bowser dead after about five hammers), then with the standard Fireball powerup (and boy, did Bowser absorb quite a lot of fireballs!) .
Then on to Super Mario World. It was really only a few castles and fortresses that could really scare me, but to list the moments:
- The very slowly descending ceiling in Ludvig's castle (and justhow far you had to run to escape it)
- The huge lava pool in the Forest Fortress (truly a dare to even think about flying across!)
- The moving, snaking platform in Roy's castle
- The "moving pits" and Fishin' Boo of Choco Land's Ghost House
- The huge, lethal, and predictably fast-moving spikes in Wendy's castle
- The whole Ghost Ship level. The disappearing/reappearing Boos, and that seemingly endless chasm where you battle falling Koopas on the way down
- The hidden fortress guarding Bowser's "Back Door", which had so many of those huge spikes that Wendy's Castle was a mere child's treehouse by comparison
- Level #2 in Bowser's World (particulary the huge maze with the moving rock floor/ceiling -- major claustrophobic sequence)
- Door #5 in Bowser's main castle ("Front Door"). Trying to outrun a gauntlet of Thwomps and a latticework of the (same) huge spikes descending from above? That took some serious guts.
- Star Road / Secret Zone #2 -- trying to fly the entire level with Balloon powerups? You had to be kidding me.
- The final Bowser Battle (the full-screen thunder/lightning, and you KNEW it was going to be a major battle when they turned off the usual level timer!) _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Aha! Demon's Crest. Almost any battle with Phalanx. That old bony bastard of a demon always caused me trouble. And he scared me with his powerful tricks... buu. ;0; I wish my SNES worked so I could go battle him.. >> |

Silent Hill. Just plain creepy.
Sanity's Requiem (I know I mentioned it, but I had nightmares for a week straight. I never dream, so that's something)
Warcraft 3 (when enemies jump out of nowhere in the middle of the night...)
Super Mario World never scared me, for some reason.
This is odd, but any gun games where you can't see the enemy. This is why I like RPGs. The clear-cut battle systems most of them have. Sweet sanctuary. ^_^ |

You mean the sheer element of being surprised; the feeling of fighting for survival? That's probably the main reason why a lot of people like FPS games. _________________
