Underated...

Di Gi Charat, [i]starting[/i] to become popular? You think so? Where? I love anything having to do with Di Gi Charat, but I don't think it's got mass appeal to the Western market. The whole cute little girls as idols thing strikes me as a very Japanese concept. Being that the Di Gi Charat characters were originally created as mascots for the Gamers stores, I think the target audience consists of young males - the kinds that are interested in the stuff that Gamers sells (video games, figures, CDs, trading cards, etc.). I cannot see the same thing happening in the States... Guys being into cute things? So not cool! Japan, of course, has the whole 'culture of cuteness' going on, so it's much more acceptable for guys to be into that sort of stuff. Different countries, different cultures, different standards.

I don't think Di Gi Charat will ever get out of underrated status outside of Japan. In fact, we could probably step up from just Di Gi Charat to encompass all Brocolli-related series. Galaxy Angel is another popular character-driven series in Japan, and yet it's virtually unknown in the West.

i also think Evangelion is underated!!! but another thing is X(x/1999) its by far clamps greatest work and the very thought of the end of the world is pretty cool and you cant help but luv all the characters...or hate them(no matter how cute or sadistic they r)and all the beautiful art, anywayz Evangelion rulz!!

X/1999 I think is not all that underrated :/ CLAMP is famous throught the globe and X/1999 is thier flagship title. Not that it isn't fantastic, just not under rated

If you ask me, both Evangelion and X/1999 are both waaaay overrated. Really. The fanbases scare me sometimes. Plus, don't even thinkd for a moment that any of CLAMP's works are underrated. They have such a huge fanbase that none of the stuff they ever come out with will be "underrated".

As for underrated stuff... I've always considered Alichino (hard "k" sound, people. It's Italian) to be much less popular than it should be, given the intriguing plot aand beautiful art work.

I love the old animes. I was truly in love with them. But with the other shows they have now like Inuyasha, FMA & Naruto (Don't get me wrong, I like them too) but everyone just seems the animation is not good enough, or that they think the old ones have no plot at all.

OMG, I loved Akira, really good manga, but still haven't seen the anime yet. Digi Charat was a really good one, but people seemed to be annoyed with their little cat noises at the end of their sentences. And Final Fantasy Unlimited totally rocks man!

Tactics = Way underrated. Though I'm not really complaining, because the more underrated the series, the more sane the fandom. And I have yet to meet an idiotic Tactics fan. <3

I also think Get Backers is underrated. I've met a lot of mixed opinions; a lot of people just don't like it. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have more fangirls due to the homoeroticness of it. :0

There are also a few manga that I think deserve more attention, like Vampire Game and Demon Diary, but manga-only series never get as much attention as anime do.

Well, it seems they lost the license to it. Which, on one hand makes me a little sad because my computer blows and can't download stuff anymore, I've only read up to book 3 scanlated and watched a few eps of the anime. But on the other hand, as I said, it may be for the better. Prevention of shoddy fans, and no more fuckups. :/

I'll tell you what's underated, Chronicals of the cursed sword, some people don't even know what that is, even though its not japanese its still manga and it has the potential of an inu yasha like following (i don't know why people like inuyasha in the first place though). So there this manga is SOOOOO underated. Bleach isn't that underrated but i've noticed that there aren't a lot of seldom bleach fans, letting you know^^

So that's why I haven't seen vol 3 come out yet... Well that's what they get for making Sugino a girl. Also makes me wonder if that's what happent to all thier other title that have been aeons since updates.. Sad

I really don't wanna have go on a scavanger hunt for R2, Mystical Prince Yoshiba-kun, Gamerz Heaven, and Loki Ragnarok (all of which are relitivly unknown underrated series that are pretty spiffy)

And there's a scanlation of Tactics somewhere? Do you know how long I've been looking for a Tactics scanlation? You must tell me where it is!
