I'm reading Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone. I read the books backwards ^_^;
As well, in a desperate attempt to turn my brain meat into a romcom loving pile of mush, I'm reading Boy Meet's Boy by David Levithan.
Go Go mooshy boy love! (I really need to read more sci-fi/fantasy books...) |

Is there just another name for the first Harry Potter book? I'm getting confused after seeing it many more times than once "philosopher's stone." But meh, I just finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets tonight. I'm agitated because I stalled the last 5 chapters for today so I could have the next one ready to go but my mom lost the next 2 books somewhere so since they apparently don't exist tomorrow....
I'll be getting Prisoner of Askaban and....whatever year 4 is tomorrow so I can read the rest of them. I at least want to get done the 4th one by November for the movie, although I will probably have them all done by late September if I keep reading as I am now. Who knows. ^_^ |

I do believe that the words 'Philosopher's Stone' are used in the original British version - they did a translation when they published the book in the US, and the words got switched to 'Sorceror's Stone'. Ever notice how the books went from not sounding very British to suddenly uber-British around book 5 or so? I think they finally stopped translating to American English because people were feeling insulted. Imagine doing something like that to CS Lewis' or Roald Dahl's writing!
I'll bet some of the HP fans here know more about the subject than I do. |

Yea, I wasn't really sure at first. That's what I figured eventually though, since the only one who really sounded British in the book was Hagrid. It's a very interesting book though, and there's a lot more information that they obviously couldn't fit into the movies. I'm pretty worried on how they will fit 5, 6, and 7 into movies! These books are twice as big as the first two or three! You can't leave too much information out of a book movie.
Hehehe, like Ginny's valentine to Harry. :wub: Her crush on him is so cute. :wub: :wub: :wub: |

Its the best series ever im reading book 8 now!!anyways, its about rand al thor the dragon reborn(its a tiltle he's not a dragon) him beeing able to channel saidin the male half of the "one power" puts him in grave danger of being stilled by aes sedei, agless women who use the female half of the one power known as saidar. There a VERY large cast, and the names of the chartacters are very unique, the darkness in the world are the forsaken, beings who gave into the darkness (forgot whaty its called) and are trying to break the world again(the world has already been broken before you see). overall the book is very good Robert Jordan is an imaginative man, and its worthwhile to read his books. Good enough description for you Viper069?? |

I'm not reading anything at the moment but I just finished re-reading And A Voice To Sing With: A Memoir by Joan Baez. It's completely engrossing. _________________ |

I just picked up and read the first fifty pages of Interview With the Vampire instead of working on my final term paper. Figures that I'd only figure out right around finals time that the humanities library has an amazing selection of non-scientific books. >_< |

Even though Anne Rice is a poor writer in that she's unable to mask the social and religious commentary in her The Vampire Chronicles, I still love those books. Sue me, I'm a whore for vampire stuff. D: Interview with the Vampire. <3 I still like that one the most so far, even though there isn't much focus on Lestat. *nods* I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far... And now that I've finished my paper, I can read some more of it! Well. Either that, or make clay dragons. Hrm. It'd be cool if I could somehow do both at once. |
