Denis/Carter asked for tutorials, n' I said I'd make one. However, since I don't have time and would ultimately end up writing a book were I to not pin down a specific topic, I'm leaving it up to the people who will read it. I'll make a detailed tutorial with pictures on the winning option, and possible tutorials on the others at a later time.

So pick which subject you think would be most interesting/useful.

I voted realism in general, but I don't think many FAC members (the pariahs) are looking to be good at realism...

The majority aren't interested in anything I do, looking at it or doing it. I'm well aware. Razz

But I'm not going to make a tutorial about something I'm not good at, and hopefully the tutorials/reviews/articles can have as much variety as we do in categories and not just one subject.

I'd love something to do with getting a person's likeness down. I can do realism, but I have such issues with that part that I don't often bother.

I would really love to see a tutorial about comical-izing already existing characters, how you stylize and simplify a character for a comic, to say it exact how to make a comic figure out of a real person but that way you still recognise exactly who it is...

Yeah, so would I. Laughing

Not really my forte. Except like this, but it's not particularly comic-esque, just simpler.

That'd be right up in the average Fac member's alley, sure, go for it.

making real person/s simpler.

I used to know someone who did stuff like that. He said to exagerate features, but not to the extent of a caricature, and not to do too much detail. I suppose you could think of it like vector art.

Erm... thing is, I didn't simplify anything. All the proportions are correct. It's just instead of shading, I inked the lines and slapped on some photoshop color. Simplifying while still maintaining likeness is a whole different thing...

I think I would love to see a tutorial dedicated to inking an artwork and hence I voted for Individual features.

As example for some really heavy simplified Characters I would mention the StarWars CloneWars series... they took the characters and simplyfied them to the extreme, but they all got their features and you can recognise who is who. I guess you need to specify a style at first and then chose a feature you want to keep on a character and so on.. well not really easy I guess.

Concerning inking, I made a tutorial about digital inking once... well digital so it will not be quite helpful for traditional inking, but if someone wants it, its in PDF format...

Haha, gotta love how many people pick things that aren't on the list.

Although I have and am doing surrealism right now, but there's no way I could make a tutorial about it. Laughing

Can't decide between likeness and realism. It'll be one of those, just depending on if I feel like doing a drawing (realism) or painting (likeness...'cause I have the very beginning of a painting if I chose to use that one, hmm).

Meh, we'll see. Smile

((sorry for bumping old thread up but im interested))

I would love to learn to portrait, I think you are one of the best drawers in all FAC fallen, maybe its because of your ability to shade or maybe just because your ability..... anyway i can get the details of the persons when I draw them but i can never get the proportions and stuff maybe that would help?

I don't know if it's of any help but I've put up a couple of tutorials one is for realism and shading, the other is for coloring with markers. It might not be to good cause I don't consider myself that great ^_^

Lolz, I forgot this thread even existed after the new semester started. Portraiture is probably the easiest to do, tutorial wise. Incorporate a little of all the categories. 'Cause shading in general, uh... "just do it" is about all the advice I can come up with. I don't think about it.

Hm, need to pick a subject that won't be Theo, though that is a more interesting face than the standard symmetrical pretty boy...
