I wouldn't mind these people liking the MTV artists if they would only just back up their statements with evidense and reasons other than "So-and-so is the best MC ever!" Where's the logic? The reasons? The actual point of the post?

Substance people! This thread needs substance. "Missy Elliot is teh best female MC ever" isn't going to convert me into a Missy Elliot fan. If you possibly had said "Well I believe Missy Elliot is one of the best because her songs are original and the lyrics really speak to today's youth. Her beats are catchy and are generally fun and upbeat to listen and dance to." then maybe I would consider listening to more Missy Elliot.

Hey, Missy Elliott really is good and I would agree that she is probably the best female MC's.
She's one of the only female rappers who doesn't always rap about being a slut. Her music is innovative and she's going in a different direction than a lot of current rappers. She really rides the beat well with her sing, songy voice and it's true, you can always dance to her music. Plus she is a role model for fat chicks everywhere who want to make it in the music business. She also had her own reality show. Now how can you say anything bad about her.

I was only using Missy as a quick example. First name that popped into my head to be honest. I could say the same about Eminem supporters or Chingy or whatever.

But kudos on giving support for your statement James. I still may not agree with you but at least I respect you for backing up what you said. Kudos on the effort kid. Wink

Missy Elliot is, I believe, one of the worst woman MCs ever... she will never stand against EVE or salt 'n pepa... missy elliot is one of those artists who think that you can make a good song by just randomly rhyming words, and throwing in a ridiculously catchy hook... eve would kick her ass, both in the quality of her raps, and in real life...

I love Kanye West. I mean, he's not like true rap of course. There are rappers out there that would scare the s**t out of you but Kanye isn't like that. He goes out there and writes fun songs. Sometimes they deliver a messege and sometimes they don't. But the point is, his songs are fun and easy to like. That doesn't usually happen with hip hop artists. I'm very eager to see what else he can spin out over the next few years.

Eminem. And in my humble opinion, he's overrated at best and losing his touch as he reaches his retirement. His songs don't have the same impact they used to. He used to be able to really make people go "Wow! Oh my God, he really just said that. I don't think he can say that." I mean, back in the day, he really knew how to mess with people's heads and piss them off. He doesn't do that anymore. His meant-to-be-offensive songs try too hard to reach the same disgusting impact that The Real Slim Shady and My Name Is... brought in the 90s. Also, his "heartfelt songs" are now facing the same predictability. I didn't mind Mockingbird so much but even that one seemed forced and commercialized. I'm not saying that he doesn't love Hailey. I'm sure he means every word of it. Its just that I don't think he should be like turning those personal songs into mediocre hits. That almost degrades the impact the song should have on his little girl. Sad

Thats mostly my two cents on that artist. I would go on but that would take too long.

Eve ran off and statred a mediocre TV show on upn. If she was all that hot wouldn't you think she'd be more veiwed in the Rap scene

I haven't heard Eve on the radio in over 4-5 months...+

Missy Elliot may not be the best ever(Sorry if i stated that earlier) but she does create new things that are hot on the radio... ^_^

Everytime I turn around her songs are within the top ten on music chartz all over.
