Dragon Quest Viii

I really haven't played a whole lot of RPGs, but when I play the story is a must b/c I feel it really drives the game. My brother just bought this game about 3 weeks ago and I hadn't ever played DQ before b/c I was always more of a FF person, but gave this game a shot anyway. It's wonderful! Can't really describe the battle system very well, but it's almost like you can mold your own characters w/just enough guidance from the game. My favorite part of the whole game is probably the character designs (gets bombarded by rotten tomatoes) I know the artwork is done by the DB guy, but his art is so cute! As for his orignality I guess it could use some work. The story's a real piece of work too! Please tell me someone else has heard of this wonderful game.

Yeah it looks good, I wanna buy it. It'll have to last me until Kingdom Hearts II comes out.

James: Don't think...don't hesistate...buy this game now! I promise you won't regret it. Besides the game is 60hrs+ w/lots of side quests.

Level-5 worked on this game? I remember see their icon in the beginning, but I wasn't exactly sure what they were responsible for. What does that company do exactly?

They were responsible for the cel-shading that you saw in Dark Cloud 2. You know, the really big black outlines on the characters and creatures and then making the character inside the black line look 3-D like.

uhhhh...I haven't played this game in a week b/c of finals...oh the pain...THE PAIN! Of course, there's also the factor of being at a rather hard boss right now and I need to level up, but man I don't want to do that right now! I like FAC alot too, but I don't think taking a break once in a while would be a bad thing.

I've always wanted to play a Dragon Quest game but never seem to be able to find it in the shops over here. If it did get released over here, it got itself well hidden.

I actually did buy this game and I'm very impressed. I'm about halfway done now and here are my thoughts.
sound-superb
voice acting- love the british accents
minigames- the monster arena is a lot of fun
story- very intriguing. I'm seriously hating Dhoulmagus right now.
characters- all were created by Akira Toriyama, so if you're a fan of DBZ or Chrono Trigger, you'll like this game.

You know I could just kick myself...I haven't touched this game in weeks...I'm stuck on this boss called Empyrea...she really kicked my ass last time I tried to fight her...I think I need to seriously check out the monster arena...*sigh*
