"again"? I take it you were mauled previously, in Sandbox or otherwise...

Either way, do try to keep this a discussion, not just spamming whether you like it or not. After all, we do have a favourite games thread if that's all you want to say.

Also.

FFVII = mediocre. Tactics > FFVII

Although I'll have to admit that Dirge of Cerberus = (y). Vincent, lol. Non-import suckers. It's not the best game ever, but it is shiny. Graphics... :0 I still suck at shooters, though. XD

"would"

:/

Tactics > FFVII

Plotwise, musically, and character development. FFVII only has Sephiroth. FAIL.

What the hell are you talking about? FFVII didn't save anything. FFI-VI were extremely popular for their time, too, and Square didn't need any saving, having built upon these other games.

Best storyline only in your eyes. I've played most of the FF games AND several other RPGs, and let me tell you, FFVII isn't all that special.

You can quit verbally masturbating at anytime, now. It's disgusting.

I agree with fayore, FFVII isn't that great. FFI was the game that saved Square way back when. Hence the name "Final Fantasy". It was going to be their final game, but people loved it. Tactics>FFVII.

I see you've missed my point entirely. Not entirely unexpected from someone of your calibre.

Be thankful. This farce'll end soon.

Also, gizmo, DO NOT, under any circumstances, attach pictures that large to your posts. Go back and read the rules.

Welcomer is for the Sandbox area specifically. That title designates the fact that I'm allowed to post in the Sandbox to welcome newbies.

We are not in the Sandbox anymore, where you were supposed to have learned the rules. Your life is forfeit out here.

EDIT: And just because I disagree with your opinion does not make me "not a nice person". 8D Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Obviously, wit is one of the things that escape you. 8D This is not an argument nor a democracy. This is a dictatorship. Go back to the Sandbox and read the rules. All of them.
must feel great picking on a cripple in a wheel chair.
Irrelevant. Has nothing to do with your intellectual capacity, which is what you display on the internet. At least that last post wasn't full of nonsense.

TK421, return to your post. Do you copy? (this statement intended to be humorous only)

Final Fantasy, as a whole, is mostly a product of evolution. The first game was truly innovative in the sense that there was nothing else like it. Nothing else had its music, its huge overworld, its comprehensive array ofweapons, armor, spells, and monsters, or its long and convoluted plot (which, in retrospect, was quite linear).

FF2 improved upon the first by adding in a lot of character interaction. More player-characters kicked the bucket in FF2 than in the rest of the series COMBINED. FF2 also ditched the whole experience/level system by awarding you stat boosts on the fly depending on how often you fight, cast magic, take hits, or so on.

Haven't played FF3.

F4 was the first 16-bit Final Fantasy game, and introduced the ATB system. As you might expect from a leap from NES to SNES, the graphics went higher resolution and fuller color, more monsters, more flashy spell effects, longer story (heralded as one of the greatest).

FF5, again very little truly innovative gains here. More award-worthy music, difficult bosses, overly long plot, and a jobs system similar to (but much improved from) FF2.

FF6, as one of the last 16-bit RPG's, had the best graphics relative to its console, awesome and memorable music, a wide cast of characters (14!), and many, many sidequests. Hell, almost the entire second half of the game was spent doing sidequests to get your characters back.

FF7 is heralded as the best WHY? Because Square progressed to the PSX, the CD-ROM format, they had like 600+MB of data space available to them (compared to like 8-16MB for an SNES cartridge). They rendered the battles in polygonal 3D (the scenery was just z-buffered static renders), and tossed in a dearth of pre-generated FMV cutscenes, some more woven into the script than others.

A lot of people like FF7 because Aeris died. Not that they liked Aeris's death in itself, but because it emotionally tied many players to the game because it was the first FF7 game where you could spend a lot of time with a playable character only to see her visibly murdered halfway through the adventure. (For comparison, you spent relatively short time with the many ill-fated chars in FF2, and in FF6, Shadow was never explicitly killed on the Floating Continent, not to mention that you could actually save him). They WANTED to finish the game so they could see Cloud laying down the smack on Sephiroth as payback for what he did with Aeris.

FF8? I haven't played very much of it.

FF9? The last FF game on the PSX series, and a tribute to the FF series as a whole.

FFX? First FF game on the PS2. Graphics again take a notch upwards, they tossed out the ATB to try a turn-based system (which was actually a good system, too bad people didn't understand it).

FFX-2? First direct sequel in the FF series. They attempted doing a mission-based story system (instead of something more traditional/linear), returned with a (debatably) improved ATB system, and re-implemented a Jobs system la FF2, FF5, and FFT.

FFXI? First MMOFFRPG. Haven't played it.

FFXII? From what I've seen of the demo, wow. Pregenerated FMV cutscenes aren't really worth swooning over, but if you see some of the in-game plot cutscenes, they've done quite a good job on getting their 3D-modelled characters to show real, recognizable facial expressions and gestures. They've done a great job trying to redesign a new battle system not dependent on randomized encounters but replaced by real tactical concerns that play out on the field. Monsters, weapons, spells, and attacks have certain ranges that they have to be used in, and the "Active" mode allows you to maneuver your character about on the fly (and in several cases actually evade attack).

In your case, never. 8D It's due to nomination from other site helpers/mods/admins.

PS. This is still a discussion board, and your spammy thread is lacking a topic to discuss. I tried to provide an alternative opinion, but it doesn't appear that you want to discuss anything at all! So, really, this entire thread is made of spam. It'll have to be closed if you don't shape up. ^_^

Anyway. Final Fantasy Tactics. I rather liked it because it was a great view of the politics that happened during various wars and it reminded me quite a bit of the Renaissance. Very involved plot with several twists, and it does a good job of detailing the character development, particularly Ramza's. I loved all those journal-like entries between the chapters where he reflected on what had happened, because it offered a lot of insight into his thoughts and emotions. The music is also top notch. All the tracks are quite nice, and over all the soundtrack is well-rounded - a far notch from Uematsu's hit-or-miss compositions.
