No, and I'm still here too. If you guys aren't willing to start some serious discussion on the FF series (like Fayore and I attempted to do), this thread is going to wind up with a near record-breakingly short shelf life.

QUOTE (william0751 (gizmo)) | are they going to remake ffvii for ps3 or wot? cause ive heard lots of but there all different
The only reason that there are rumors of a remake is because they remade the trailer as a tech demo for the PS3. There is not going to be a remake according to the Sony E3 2005 press conference. There is going to be a new game some where down the line, but not FFVII. |

Just for the record, DoC has already been released in Japan, and FFXII still does not have a specified release date. _________________

Ask a question if you want, but do try to stay on topic and offer something else besides the question as well. I haven't heard any discussion of anything from either you or TK421. _________________

Hopefully. Their games are declining dreadfully in quality. It's gone so far that all Final Fantasy is is just a name; a label of a franchise that just won't die. It doesn't have much quality in their games anymore, having relied on their faithful fanbase to pull them through. Debauchery.
It's making the DQ games look bad, too.
EDIT: ON TOPIC discussion? That's hardly a discussion at all! Just you complaining about the character design. _________________

Otherwise known as a point of diminishing returns. If you count the number of industry-wide innovations introduced by the FF games (or any series, for that matter), you'll find that it's hard for the newer games to be as innovative as what went before.
QUOTE (TK421) | was the girly appeareance of kuja on perpose
Answer: By definition, yes it was deliberate. Someone on Square's artistic team was given the task of creating an appropriate outfit for Kuja's character profile (remember, he was a narcissist), someone assuredly spent hours coming up with ideas and sketching out designs, submitting those designs for approval, and then handing it off to the modelling team to generate the 3D model.
They aren't responsible for the fans not liking the design they agreed upon. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I rather liked Kuja's design. It said an awful lot about his personality - narcissistic as Strata put it - and I thought that it was a rather good reflection of his disgust for Garland and his birth, and spoke a lot about how much he desired to be different; individual from the rest of Garland's creations. So much that he ended up looking rather much like he even denied the gender that Garland bestowed upon him, but whatever floats his boat.
And this is such a one sided discussion. :< I wanna hear something from the people asking the bloody questions. _________________

He never really destroyed it though. Everything was fine afterwards. I think X-Death got closer (FF5). _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Personally, I think they should stop releasing titles under the FF label, then. I really think that FFX-2 wouldn't have failed so hard if they just created new characters and an new world. The storyline didn't have to be drastically different.
Which brings to mind the FF movie (not AC). I'm under the impression that it's popular opinion that if Square had released it as something independant of Final Fantasy, it would have been more popular.
Take KH, for example. Tonnes of people love that game. If it had been released as a Final Fantasy, people would be like, "so it's real time battling. So what, show me something different." I guess the novelty of using Disney characters was a lot of incentive, too... :X _________________

Sorry, I don't do fanart. Not often, anyway. Strata has his FFMLP art, (in case you were wondering, yes, that's technically Final Fantasy fanart), but it's probably not what you're looking for. If you really want to see some good fanart of Square characters, try looking up DG-Sama. _________________
was kuja the only FF Final Boss to destroy the world
FF villains? Okay, let's count 'em.
FF1 - Garland/Chaos: He created a time loop to rule the world, not destroy it. (Or at least I think that's how it goes... it was never well explained)
FF5 - X-Death: Immediately before the final battle, X-Death sucked every town on the map into the destructive "Void", and then threw your very team into the Void itself shortly thereafter. Only the power of the four (shattered) crystals saved them from being annihilated, and allowed them to actually battle against X-Death.
FF6 - Kefka: He shifted the 3 Goddess statues out of alignment, which literally re-arranged the entire world map. After that, he just sat atop his giant Tower happily terrorizing various cities with his so-called "Light of Judgement".
FF7 - Sephiroth: He was killed before Meteor actually collided with the planet, and the Planet saved itself afterwards.
FF9 - Kuja: Terra's assimilation of Gaia never took place because Kuja destroyed Terra (and not Gaia). The final task in the game was heading into the crystal dimension to stop Kuja from destroying everything, which the team did.
FFX: Sin destroyed towns and cities, but never Spira itself. The final battle took place inside of Sin itself to destroy the source.
FFX-2: Variable ending -- either you beat Vegnagun before it can fire its supercannon, or you see the Calm Lands being vaporized and followed shortly by "Game Over". _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
