Yup. pics can't be larger than 300k, and they have to be jpg.

Main reasons why pictures get deleted/rejected:

Oversized -- Not the file size, but the actual pixel size. They can't have a WIDTH larger than 600 pixels.

Binder Paper -- a recent rule; you can't upload pictures on binder paper

Category Errors -- please...pay attention to where you file your pictures. Be as specific and accurate as possible.

those are the main reasons that we've found. You should be getting a letter in your mailbox (if you gave a valid e-mail address) saying WHY specifically they were rejected.
But I've noticed a lot of people don't like to read T.T (just skip the rules and click on "agree"; ignore the e-mails and just try to upload the picture again with no change; .....ah.....the wonderful frustrations)

n.n anyway, good luck

Which brings to mind: When uploading an image to the site, you know how it says "your picture should appear below"? This doesn't want to work for me.

Sure, Javascript is enabled and the picture's URL gets updated to reflect the filename I chose (e.g., if I select "View image" it loads the one I chose from disk), but after hitting 'Browse' and selecting a file from disk, the displayed image isn't changing to reflect the file I chose from disk.

It's no big deal since I easily copy the file path into a new window to verify it being correct, but both of my browsers, NS7 and IE5, do the same. I'm also running Win98SE, but I don't think that makes a difference.

Does it load in the window after you click "upload" but before you actually submit it?

Here's what I see after picking a file. The filename in question is my "manticore" sketch (this was just a test, I already uploaded it days ago) .

The page loads with the 1x1 "pixel.gif", the problem here is that the Javascript simply isn't changing the image. I've checked NS7's options, Javascript is enabled and it's permitted to change images, but it's not changing. At all. IE5 isn't changing the image either. Why?

Size is irrelevant!

Sorry, I'm a bit edgy right now. I copied the HTML source of that page to a temp file for experimenting, and I've yet to get the image preview to work like the Javascript's supposed to.

I can pick any file from my HD and the result will be the same. When you select a file using the "Browse" button, the image is supposed to show up below (refer to screenshot), but it's not. That is my problem, I have no idea why. Uploading images works fine. The Javascript preview does not.

First off, off topic to this thread. Next time make a new thread about how to comment, or better yet, search the forums to make sure there isn't already one.

You can comment on people's pictures by clicking on the "add comment" link at the bottom of the page (right over the list of names of people who are on)

As for you Mr. Shouting "edgy" guy. It was a simple question. If you're going to get mean that doesn't really make people want to help you you know

Sorry about that, I've cooled down now. Still at a loss to what is wrong though.

The preview on the first page relies on JavaScript. Not all browsers are as....Compliant with JavaScript standards so little stuff like that may not work.

I make the Javascript compliant with Internet Explorer 6 becasue about 98% of the visitors to the site use that, if it doesn't work for you, quit using crappy netscape Razz or just live with it.

JavaScript is used to Enhance this site. It is not Required for most functionality (I think the comments are the only important thing that needs it). Just becasue that first preview doesn't work, doesn't mean the images won't submit to the site. Its just to help prevent dumb people from trying to submit psd files and stuff that just won't work at all.

Yeah, I just tend to get a little ...irritable... when investigating a problem too much in a given time.

I run on Win98SE, have NS4, NS6, NS7, and IE5. And you'd think that the Javascript would work as a rule considering it's been around since NS and IE 3! It just seems as if the onChange event isn't firing at all, I've got no leads to go on.

Then again, what did I say when I first mentioned this, this is only a tiny annoyance, so why am I worrying about it?

I don't know... but I just got pulled over by flood control, again. :P

I always find it peculiar that flood control is based upon the time delay between hitting the "Submit" button on the reply form and hitting the "Add Reply" button.

For example, when I have two topics open at once, I start making a reply on one topic, spend 10-15 minutes writing it, then I hit "Submit". Instantly I switch over to the other topic, read through its latest entries and hit "Add Reply" to start composing a response, and flood control flags me down and tells me to wait.

I won't complain about this, 'tis the third board I've been to where this happens when browse multiple pages, so I just switch out to a different thread for awhile, then switch back and hit Reload.

What program are you using for your images? Any decent image-editing program these days should at least have JPEG/GIF exporting capability....
