Definitely Maki Murakami (creator of Gravitation). If you look at the art of Gravitation vol.1 and Gravitation vol.12, the art style is completely different. The drastic change slightly depressed me, though, because her earlier works looked so much more original and expressive, but then she gradually began to draw in the overly-used "cutesy" style... " |

Wow...the change between the old and new in the second pair is drastic.
The only thing that comes to mind at the moment:
First Season:

Second Season:

Art changes happen in so many manga, like the yu-gi-oh manga (hate it) and clamp, there style changed from so highly detailed, to clean cut in 20 years? anyhow, so yeah... |

I think the style changes with CLAMP may be more because they're a group of something like five different artists than because they're simplifying. It probably just depends on who is the lead artist or character or designer or whatever for that particular comic.
Of course, I am by no stretch of the imagination a CLAMP fan, so I could be completely off the mark on that one.... _________________

No you're pretty much right about that one Squid.
CLAMP is a group of five artists. Mokona who used to be thier main artist (resposable for the amazing detail and ornateness CLAMP's mangas are known for) developed arthritis so is no longer able to draw as much as she used to. I forget who the main artist is now but she's the one who does the cleaner simpler style (like Suki, Legal Drug, and XXXaholic) _________________

Yeah, its Mick Nekoi, but i thought it was only 4 people in clamp, it used to be over 20 in doujinshi days but since RG veyda it was just 4. Nanase Ohkawa is also contributed for some of magic knight rayearths success along with Legend of Chun hyang. And the other 2 members are Mokona Apapa and Satsuki Igarashi, who's the 5th member? |

Mokona Apapa developed arthritis? That's horrible...
There are only four members now, but there used to be (I think) eleven. If anybody cares, I can dig out the Art History paper I wrote on them and put up their names, but I don't think most people do... ~.^
Another changer is Matsushita Yoko. Her characters start out more...solid, I guess. And as she goes, they become more...delicate-looking. It's kind of difficult to describe and it's mostly in their faces. Maybe drawing Hisoka influenced her ^.^ _________________ Disgaea's Overlords Dance in Worlds Beyond Infinity while Mifuyus Magical Multiplying Mole reads the epic Chronicles of Yord, and you learn that your Craving for Finding a Heart of Snow is Taboo in VG unless you dare undertake The Combine of Sin... |

Of course they do. The whole point of this thread is noting some of the changes. Besides, some changes are more pronounced than others. Brianhjh specifically noted that these were "drastic changes."

Awww, man, the change in the Jing King of Bandits is kinda depressing... More often than not, I feel, popular-ish series start out with a good style... that loose it as the artists perhaps want to mimic other styles more, the more popular ones???
It is kind of sad...
A bit off-topic, but the crescent moon manga has an awesome style... I hope they never change it. :3 _________________ |

Definately Rurouni Kenshin and Spiral-suiri no kizuna. I've seen lots of art style change in many mangas, but I think these two really jumped out for some reason. But again, a good manga does not start out haveing perfect artworks. What really makes it good is to see the improvements the mangaka went through(of course, the plot itself has to be interesting too). |

This reminds me of Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo. I didn't really see much diffrence on the first two seasons, I thought Tenchi Universe was a continuation of the first season because I missed a couple of episodes. But Tenchi in Tokyo had diffrent styles which i didn't really like that much. _________________
Brian Danielson, more importent that any anime or anime character, why? Cause he actually exists. |
