For two sections of the forum that are supposedly "heavily moderated", it seems like they get the most amount of continuous idiotism. I find that it hardly qualifies as "moderated" since hardly any of the admins post in there. It's had repeated insult-slinging, spamming, and general incompetance running unchecked in there till an admin had to be PMed to close a thread. We all know how effective that is; a lot of people seem content to say their piece rather than alert a mod. Not entirely unexpected since that's a place where many of the more "vocal" members tend to congregate. And then there are some people who continuously start additional threads when their old one gets closed. :/
So, I propose a new member group gets instated which prevents the bearer from posting in those boards, much like how regular members can't post in the Sandbox. That, or find someone to moderate specifically those boards, much like my RP or DG's Anime/Manga. If we decide to go the moderator way, it would help a lot if the mod had a generally good idea of what a serious debate consists of, because Politics/Philosophy are different from the rest of the boards in that the posts in there MUST adhere to a specific "debate" writing style - essay-style, if you will. Come to think of it, a moderator who can give that member title to people sounds best.
There's a lot of cases of people posting complete nonsense in there, and I really think it needs to be controlled more. A lot of the people posting seriously are having a bit of irritation at those who aren't.

I agree with fayore, some threads like this tend to get out of hand. |

Yeah. And politics and religion and such are always the major argument cause, both on and offline. I'm surprised it's not that heavily moderated, really.
I'd be willing to help out... >>; _________________ FAC |

"Heavily moderated" tends to mean, at least in the past, that less will be tolerated in general, not exactly that a mod will read every thread and watch it. Just that, say, it would take less to get a thread closed/person warned there than in General, were it reported.
Problem with having a mod in such already controversial forums is that the most active participants are the ones who most frequently read it.
But s'not my call anyway, doesn't much matter to me. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I say take out the two boards, why do we even have them here? sure, it's a nice get-together for people who likes talking about those stuff, but in terms of usefulness to the art community in general - next to useless.
and, most of the population of the forum is 14-years old girls who think that being gay is illegal. You can't debate with them. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Well, the same could be said about the Random forum, too. :/ _________________ FAC |

Not a bad idea there, but do you think that more moderation is going to stop them? _________________ Knowledge is no burden to carry. |

I'd like to volunteer. I stopped posting seriously there in January because of the idiot n00bs thinking that they were basically God. I wouldn't mind modding it...though I'm not exactly...a moderator... _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

I need to agree that the Philosophy and Politic threads are going under. Too many arguements, not debates, arguements and rash childness. Warnings need to be given, my favorite threads are being ruined. People say its heavily moderated right? Well that seems to not be good enough, more attention needs to be given, to these controversial threads. |

Heh, i generally avoid it because of the idiot n00bs. D: I've learned to stay away from those places if they're not heavily moderated, because it's all the smae stuff.
"OMG BUSH SUKS"
"OMG CONSPIRACY"
"CREASHUNISUM V EVILUSHIN"
and so forth. Just a bunch of 13 year olds who are spoon-fed opinions by their mothers and parrot their every word. Way to go!
But ,uh, yes. I'd love to help make it a more sane environment for sensible debate. :3 _________________ FAC |
